One of my very nice friends, Diane, won tickets to see Rob Dickinson (Catherine Wheel love o' mine) at The Friars Club (club started by Milton Berle many years ago) in Beverly Hills. I was lucky enough to be her guest tonight and had a fantastic time! Playing a combination of CW and solo songs, the entire audience and I were in seventh heaven! Diane, not being very familiar with CW or Rob prior to tonight's show, walked away a new fan. Could it have been my constant rambling of how wonderful that band is that persuaded her to go? Let's hope so! ;)

Tonight was also the perfect opportunity to initiate my brand spankin' new digital camera that Santa brought me for Christmas. Soooo, for those of you who are Rob / CW fans, here are a few photos I took tonight. They're not the greatest shots as I'm still learning all of the camera's features, however, hope you enjoy!

D'ya see what he started the set with? Fuckin' amazing! Brought back such wonderful memories of sitting in front of my stereo, listening to this band for hours.

He walked out for the encore wearing a shirt in letters spelling out "BRIT" that were loosely glued to his shirt. In his words, "I'm wearing my colours tonight." He's dreamy. :)

Great shots T, thanks!

I LOVED CW back in the day, big surprise (sarcasm) to many on Obner as my heart belongs to shoegaze, but don’t think they aged as well as say Slowdive, MBV, or Swervedriver. I will always love them though just wish the last show I saw didn’t leave this bad taste in my mouth. I saw them about 10 times and 9 good to amazing experiences. Two times it was them, House Of Love and Ocean Colour Scene.

What did you need a new camera for? Your old on3 was pretty good if I remember correctly.

If your not doing anything with it you could send it to me. I'll pay for the postage!

Ha! Heck no! That camera will always be my baby. I've never owned a digital camera before, always remaining true to my 35mm. But, the times they are a changin', m'friend, and figured it was time to invest in a camera that would provide me "instant" photos. I was ready to buy one after Christmas, but Santa (ie, Mom) thought to surprise me instead.

I don't think they've aged a bit, actually. Especially Adam & Eve, one of my all-time favorite favorites of all time. There's music that I respond to with something like "Wow, this was great for 1991," and there's music I respond to with "Wow, this is great music." CW is the latter.

Cool pics! By the way, how is his new solo record?

For solo stuff, I like it a lot. Mind you, it's a bit mellower than CW, but you would've never known it last night. He's been performing acoustically as of late, so to have him don an electric guitar made my heart skip a few beats.

He's definitely been getting press. I think there was an interview in The Big Takeover.

I really like his new solo album, but you're right in that there's a lot of slower, acoustic, atmospheric stuff. Too much, IMHO, but "Handsome" is my single most favoritest track of the year. Good to see he plays it live.
