:)

I found a guy selling a shitload of old punk/postpunk etc LPs but I was wondering if any of you could tell me anything about these

CHAOS UK - CHAOS UK LP
UK SUBS - ANOTHER KIND OF BLUES
UK SUBS - HUNTINGTON BEACH
DEAD MILKMEN - BEEZLEBUBBA
THE ADICTS - SONGS OF PRAISE
THE ADICTS - LIVE & LOUD
BLITZ - VOICE OF A GENERATION
BLITZ - SECOND EMPIRE JUSTICE
UNRESTFUL MOVEMENTS - ARE YOU A FIREMAN? EP
SWELL MAPS - COLLISION TIME REVISITED
SWELL MAPS - A TRIP TO MARINEVILLE
FLUX OF PINK INDIANS - STRIVE TO SURVIVE
NAKED SPOTS DANCE - CERTAIN WAYS EP
THE BUSINESS - SUBURBAN REBELS
HOODOO GURUS - STONEAGE ROMEOS
HOODOO GURUS - MARS NEEDS GUITARS

Ive heard of, but not heard, The Adicts, Hoodoo Gurus and Uk Subs.

Theyre all in pretty perfect condition, and theyre all like $4-12 bucks NZ (=about $3-9 US). Although some like that Swell Maps album have gone up in auction price quite a bit, some havent even recieved a bid of $4 yet. Dude has a ton of stuff I do know that ill try and buy some of - The Sound, Comsat Angels, Chills , Buzzcocks, The Fall, Pere Ubu, Damned, NY Dolls, Stooges and VU LPs, The Saints... + a ton of old compilations too. I just about creamed myself.

Ill prob only be able to afford a handful though arrghh.

Those two are the only ones I can personally endorse. The Hoodoos play a mix of garage rock, powerpop and surf rock. Those are their first two albums and by far their best. Stoneage Romeos was close to making my listmania and I wouldn't be surprised if it made Billzebub's.

Dead Milkmen were a bit of novelty, sophmoric humor punk/pop band. I have a soft spot for their debut album "Big Lizard in my backyard" which I still own. Truthfully though, I haven't had much of an urge to listen to them in a long time. Beelzebubba has their biggest hit, "Punk Rock Girl", but its not a very good album at all.

I don't own any Swell Maps albums but have heard a song or two. Those might be worth it if you can get a deal on them.

I'm not that familiar with any of the rest but I think the Adicts, the Business and the UK Subs are lesser punk bands that you can probably safely ignore. But like I said, I'm not that familiar with any of them.

I agree with the above, but I definitely think that the Adicts, if you have the extra dough to throw around, would be a good buy. They are still name-dropped and while not as well known, or probably as influential as the "big 3", I would say that they do have a certain sense of belonging in the scope of punkdom.

As someone who turns 40 in a couple months ( oy ) , I can vouch for those Hoodoo Gurus records as being good stuff.

The top half of yer list ( aside from the Milkmen, which I would avoid ) depends on how much you like old school punk, for sure.

Grab his comps, if these are the albums he owns, his comps should be stellar. Those two Hoodoo Guru records are 10/10, and should be a treat on mint/near mint vinyl.

I also endorse the Adicts--kind of a blend between power pop and punk. Their albums on the Razor label fetch serious dineiro on eBay. While it doesn't appear he's got it, try and find a copy of Smart Alex, it's their best.

"Collision Time Revisited" is a double LP Swell Maps comp, and is all you need. A bit unstructured and noisy for my taste, although "Read About Seymour" is a classic. RIYL Sonic Youth.

I'm totally with Dr. Boogie on the Milkmen. "Big Lizard" is the only thing I've kept.

I was never a fan of UK Subs, there best stuff seemed to be their covers and "Stranglehold". I've their singles and comp.

The Business, Chaos, and Blitz were pretty standard Oi! stuff.

Sounds like an awesome find. Try to negotiate him down for buying a lot.

Pretty sure it was Romeos, although there's an outside chance it was "Mars" based on the strength of "Bittersweet".

I guess I must be an old bastard since I actually saw the Dead Milkmen, UK Subs and The Adicts. A Subs song was on that bizarre Guns N Roses cover album so I guess they must have been a crucial influence on the mighty Axl (actually I think Duff was behind the punk choices). How does this guy not list any Toy Dolls albums!? G.B.H.?? You culd make a mix tape and call it The Olympic Auditorium's Greaest Hits.

Awwwww yeah! "Dig That Groove, Baby" made my Listmania. I'd be surprised if that Splodgeness Abounds record isn't somewhere in that collection as well.
