This is the first song from the 3rd disc of the Something Grand box set.
For those of you wanting to know what the hell I've been squawking about all this time:

Shrimp Boat - "Honeyside"

Please post your thoughts/comments here.
I wanna know what you think.

(Thanks Matt!)

I like elements of this. I find it a little too long and meandering, and frankly, there's an aspect to this particular song (and the entire first Sea and Cake album) which finds me alternating between liking it intensely because it is smart and original and disliking it intensely because they just seem like an indie rock Grateful Dead/Phish at times.

Funny, your comment.
Because my wife is a Deadhead (but doesn't like Phish), and she loves S.B. She also thinks that they would appeal to the Deadhead crowd, and has said so on numerous occasions.

I like the Dead okay, but this is something else, IMO. Although I can see the comparisons, in some way.

Literally the only band in my collection my college deadhead/phish friends would listen to was the Sea and Cake.

i'm sorry. i didn't like it either. :(

at first i thought the music sounded a bit like umphrey's mcgee. and it was ok. but then i decided that the music was truly not going anywhere. too repetitive. and i didn't like that.

even if i could get past that feeling.....that high pitch voice crawled under my skin and was really irritating me.

Sounds like Todd is alone in his love for Shrimp Boat. I would listen but I'm at work.

I like the Dead when they're not doing long winded jams(usually studio Dead), but not much of a Phish fan.

Re: Honeyside:A little too long on the repeating melody, but I could listen to some more tracks to get a broader idea of their sound. What I do like in this track is the lack of a drugginess wig out if you catch my drift. Do they sound a bit like Galactic on occasion as well? I will investigate more PT. Thanks.

I'll see if I can get another song up that is not quite so psych -- they have a lot of difference facets.

But again...
