This has been a national obssession over here for a while.

The other day I looked around me on the train home and every single other person had their nose in a Sudoku puzzle book and I mean every single other person.

Obviously I hate them even although I know nothing about them.

Sudoku is good stuff, but I prefer logic puzzles: http://www.puzzlersparadise.com/page1042.html

When I work on Sudoku, I feel like my neural pathways are being programmed...for something more insidious.

i don't get why you'd do more than one sudoku puzzle.

This is awesome. I feel the exact same way.

Have you done one puzzle? They're not all the same. Once you do one, you can see how some would be easy, and others would be hard. Here, try an easy one.

You don't have to like it, to get the fascination. You remember Rubik's Cubes? You remember how easy it looked, until you tried it? It's kind of like that. As a scientist, the fascination with me is not tripping yourself up, to try to be as "correct" and yet also be as fast as possible.

Also, it keeps my eyes off all the hotties on the subway who are way too young for me, anyways.

The first two times I tried this, I lasted less than a second. Then I lasted about 11 seconds. I have a feeling that once I played this more than fleetingly, I could last forever.

Kind of reminds me of that scene in the first Resident Evil.

Actually, it's for puzzle geeks -- math has nothing to do with it.

There were a few of these in the in-flight magazine last month, not a bad way to waste an hour and half.

Well, that's not exactly true considering the puzzles involve probabilities, an all-too-common term used in highschool math.

I like playing them, but always enjoy the Crossword puzzles more.

No, not really. But yeah, if you want to stretch and say that it has to do with (hard) logic, then I'll give you that.

I was just sayin' that so that people wouldn't be confused by the use of numbers. You could just as easily substitute any 9 arbitrary symbols, and it'd still be the same puzzle.
