i didn't even have a christmas tree this year. i didn't even think about that until about a day before christmas. if it makes you feel better, my parents are probably taking theirs down this weekend because they were out of town for awhile and haven't had a chance.

You should convince your children that they must put gifts for you under the tree once a week until it comes down.

We didn't put up a Christmas tree until the 24th. Hell, we didn't even buy one until the 24th. And I just finally took it down this past Wednesday.

Get to it, man!

That's kind of like having your "Happy Birthday Joe!" banner up a month after Joe's birthday.

All the xmas stuff came down when we went back to work on the 4th. I do miss the lights, though.

My dad leaves his up all year. But he just takes the whole thing decorations, lights and all and puts it in the spare bedroom after New Year's. He also has Miller Lite on tap in a small keg fridge in his living room next to the tv so I'm not sure if he's a good gauge for what's normal holiday protocol.

the wife had it out on the front porch the morning of the 26th.

my dad tosses them in his pond, claiming they create prime breeding places for fish and frogs.

I chuckled.

My wife's uncle collects frasier firs off the curb, because the running / drinking club he belongs to sets about 150 of them on fire every April in one HELL of a bonfire. Planes circle around watching it. It is probably visible from space, in all seriousness.

For all of 5 seconds. And you can't stare directly at it, because the flash burns take hours to go away.
