HOLLYWOOD - Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.
In a secret meeting before Christmas, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a $5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters have already started penning lines for the four double episodes, which are due to air next year.

Aniston, who has filmed a string of movies since the final Friends episode, was the last to agree to the new deal.

An NBC insider says, "She's the one who had been holding out. But she's now agreed to reprise Rachel (Green).

"Bringing them back is a dream come true. Ratings will go through the roof."

Network bosses have also hinted at a second spin-off of the hit comedy, following the disappointing performance of Matt LeBlanc's show Joey. The new program will see the three male stars--Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc--pilot a series called It's A Guy Thing.

An NBC spokesperson confirms, "Negotiations on future projects are going on all the time."

(sigh). I'm still too sick of this show to complain about it right now.

ACK! Christ, can't these people let a reasonably good (in the beginning) sitcom die appropriately, like Seinfeld? Why???

edit: this smacks of Brady Bunch "specials."

Friends was actually pretty good in the beginning but only those of us with long memories actually remember that.

the slightly good news is that they'll have to cancel the dumbass joey show.

Given a choice between this and Brokeback Mountain, I'd chew the cyanide capsule.

Why Jennifer Aniston agreed is beyond me. It appears her career is on the upswing.

no, this is the standard cool kid reaction to the show. i think it's an overreaction, and that the show had some pretty good writing and was more than occasionally funny, or at least entertaining.

i dunno, I know a lot of really snarky people that love this show. As for me, it has a few moments that were funny, and then repeated to the point of stupidity.

Also, around 4 years into it when people started saying stupid things like "this show defines a generation" is when I pretty much gave up on all non-Simpsons television.

My gut says there's no way in hell that would happen.

Where'd ya come up with that one? Every movie she's done since the show has ended tanked at the box office. And badly.

loving this
friends and seinfeld are my 2 favorite sitcoms ever
but if they do a spinoff with the 3 guys wont aniston and cox have to be in it? the last episode had rachel and ross finally being together, plus chandler and monica are married

on that note, i withdraw my hetero card

I don't believe this article. It would be a silly thing to do. Have a reunion movie five years down the road, sure, but not 4 hour specials and the spin-off is damned stupid idea. The salaries would be prohibitive for the network and a Friends without the ladies is like moo goo gai pan without the moo goo.

Surely not... they won't bring that back. Hell it won't happen anyway.

It's a good thing they are doing it for the ratings and not to ruin any ideas out there that it was a reputable sitcom.

I admit, that I loved this show the first few years it was on, and then it got stale by season 4.

My favorite episode is when they go to the hockey game and Ross gets hit in the face with the puck.
