what i am axing is why there is no us date for the babshambles record, as an example.

i read that the arctic monkeys sold 120k in the uk this week. why not drop it in the us soon after?

can someone explain this to me?

do enough people in the US give half a fuck about babyshambles to warrant a release? i'd say a label's probably hesitant to take on a guy who's already in death pools at 26.

Rolling Stone ran a boxed review by David Fricke in its last issue so someone is paying attention.

The same thing happens here. Department of Eagles debut album got released in the UK just before Christmas (2003 release in the US).

I'd imagine it has to do with seperate labels in the UK and US licensing rights to the same album.

Some acts don't even get the same album released stateside as they do domestically. Not that her music's any good, but I noticed looking up stuff at work that Delta Goodrem's North American "debut" has a different name, cover art and track order from her Australian debut and is out two years later. Looks like the label took songs from her first two Australian cds, maybe?

She's a sucky example, but I just happened to see that today while adjusting the station playlist.

Yes. For instance, Goldfrapp is off Mute Records (in the UK) but distributed through EMI (in the US.) It's all licensing and distribution rights to the album per label.

Idiotjed has a thread on the top page with a sticky and has release dates. I updated it Sunday and he transferred over the data Monday.
