I've been listening to mostly old stuff this month, have I missed out on hearing and good 2006 releases so far?

heres what ive listened to

Boris - Pink
Placebo - Meds
Strokes - FIOE
Johnny Boy - S/T
White Rose Movement - Kick

all of them are actually reasonably good, although the Boris release stands out

The only other release i want to hear that i can think of is William Basinski's new one. Any others i should hear?

What do you think of White Rose Movement?

At first I thought it sounded typical but found myself liking it more and more as it went on.

I have about 20 new albums to digest and feel so behind but fuck it's a great time to be alive! ;)

I loved the songs i had already heard off the album - 'Love is a Number', 'Girls in the Back', and 'Alsation'; but the rest hasnt left that much of an impression yet. Ive only listened to it twice though, and one of those was merely background listening, so I havent really given it its due.

haha...wait...haha

Well I have heard good things and wanted to get a second opinion.

BTW, NightTime is one of my all-time favorites and still hold out hope but have heard that it sounds like Ministry but still want to hear since it's sitting in my folder.

edti: to be fair, I like a lot of those same indie British bands so I'm not one to talk but that was classic!

The Kooks album i enjoyed, a little bit different from the rest of the herd thats being hyped over here.

I really like the new ones by Mudhoney, Buzzcocks, Karl Blau, Isobel camobell & mark lanegan, Television personalities & Be your own pet.

splates, the Delays album is fast becoming my favorite this year. such a fun, indie pop record.

here's a few more that i think you'll be into...

halma - back to pascal
graham coxon - love travels at illegal speeds
mogwai - mr. beast
band of horses - everything all the time
clogs - lantern
kelley stoltz - below the branches
the horror the horror - the horror the horror

Cat Power is good but not necessarily a must-hear. I like it much more than You Are Free, but I might be in the minority there.

It's the only '06 release I've bought so far. The only other things I've listened to are Boris, The Strokes, and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy/Tortoise.

That BPB/Tortoise is fucking awful. Worse than I could've imagined.

I haven't heard much this year.

Arctic Monkeys - not bad, but nothing special
Love Is All - I really like this and hope Amoeba will have it soon (if not already) - Go Pitchfork hype machine!

Is this all I've heard this year? That's pretty bad. Would still like to hear White Rose Movement, new B&S, Television Personalities, and Boris.

i don't think you're a fan splates, but the new belle & sebastian is fantastic, as well as the previously mentioned isobel campbell & mark lanegan album.

splates, I believe that you would love Super Numeri's "The Welcome Table", at the risk of sounding redundant.
