Pink Mountaintops Plot North American Trek

Zach Vowell reports:
As previously reported, Stephen McBean's less visible (but by no means less mountainous) project Pink Mountaintops will release their sophomore effort, Axis of Evol, on March 7 through Jagjaguwar. What we only hinted at, but could not divine in advance, was that Pink Mountaintops would tour North America this very March to support the album.

Now we have the dates and the details: according to Jagjaguwar, McBean will take his PM show on the road, joined at times by Lyndsay Sung, Cory Gangnes, and his Black Mountain collaborators Joshua Wells and Amber Webber. The tour will include one stop each with Dead Meadow, and quasi-labelmates Oneida and Magnolia Electric Company, and will hit up a good portion of the West Coast, Southwest, and Midwest, not to mention the band's hometown of Vancouver several times. East Coasters should recognize a pattern there: no luck.

Pink Mountaintops will play the Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar showcase at SXSW. The labels have yet to announce the specifics of the showcase, but Magnolia Electric Company, the Earlies, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, Damian Jurado, Richard Swift, Julie Doiron, and Parts & Labor are all currently on the labels' rosters, so connect the dots if you feel like it.

Once the month-long tour ends, Black Mountain will play the Mudhoney-curated date of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in England in May. But first things first:

I didn't really care for the Pink Mountaintops but absolutely loved Black Mountain.

I tried to find somebody of that sort that I could like that nobody else did - because everybody would adopt his group, and his group would be _it_; someone weird like Captain Beefheart. It's no different now - people trying to outdo ! each other in extremes. There are people who like X, and there are people who say X are wimps; they like Black Flag.
