I hate that shit. I am usually pretty quiet in the morning, I just want to eat, read the news and drink 6-7 cups of coffee, and every roommate, girlfriend and parent I have ever had cannot seem to grasp this. Not in a bad mood, not really in any mood, just leave me alone for a minute or two!!

exactly!

she had just previously called me twice and then stopped over.

1st call: where are we going to lunch? (i told her it was her choice. and she had a fit because she didn't want to pick.)

2nd call: can we stop at the atm first? (i told her that was fine. then she asked where the atm was. like i know! we don't use the same bank!)

THEN she stops over and asks me if she was driving. then when i said sure (because i ALWAYS drive. and because, well, she said it in a way in which she already assumed she was.), is when she stormed off.

(i'm not crabby. but jesus. i'm trying to work over here...oh, and post on obner. )

oh my god, this sounds like any time family comes to visit. I'm used to having quiet time in the morning, where I can glance at the news, drink my coffee, eat my oatmeal, etc. And whenever I have family out, they always want to chat in the morning. I too get accused of being grumpy, and I have to tell them, "You know? Most mornings I don't talk to anyone until at least 7:30. And I like it this way."

I also hate when I'm being quiet or introspective, my family (most notably my oldest sister) will ask, "Is there something wrong? Are you mad at me?" Grrrrr.

The funny thing is, my mom's dad was the exact same way, yet when he was like this it was 'funny.' When I am like this, I'm a dick.

It seems that in any workplace I've ever been employed at, quietness is synonymous with crabiness, crankiness and being anti-social. Can we not just sit in work in peace for the love of God. Must you fill every empty second with your contrived nonsense.

I know... I prefer not to speak to anyone (chat-wise) until after my morning coffee.

Then again, I've been getting my morning coffee at around noon these days, but that's an entirely different story...

i think people know better than to talk to me in the morning until i've had my breakfast and coffee.

also, i'm more crabby in the morning than usual because of the HORRENDOUS commute i've now acquired. i am officially terrified of the 405 and 110 freeways now. and apparently since my ass doesn't wake up early enough to take public trans, i'm screwed for another month.

i'm pretty damn cranky this morning because of traffic.

I straight up could not do this. It is no problem for me to get up at 5 and drive 2 hours to work...but if there is 10 minutes of traffic ANYWHERE, I go crazy. Public Transit has never been bad for me.

trust me, i offically have gone crazy. i just put in my 30 day notice at my place in long beach, so i only have to deal with this until the end of feb. whether or not i make it until then, or end up shooting everyone on the 110 fwy, who knows. it's brutal.

i don't understand how there are SIX lanes on a freeway and yet there is still MASSIVE bumper to bumper traffic. what the fuck people!

</end vent>

I always say that when there is stop-dead traffic on an interstate highway, someone better be missing their head. Seriously. Nothing gets me angrier than traffic.

Dumpjack's Tuesday Observation:

I share a lab space with two twenty-something girls, one undergrad and the other a grad student. It has just occurred to me that neither one has said a single word or looked my way in a full week, despite several attempts at polite conversation. Since I am certain that a) I don't smell b) I'm not a dick (at least to my workmates) and c) am generally quite approachable and helpful, I am forced to conclude that they're just fucking bitches.

Then again, I'm trying to move close to my work at the end of the month as well - I can relate to those fed up with the LA Pub Trans...

Atlanta had the same problem... more traffic? Add another lane! Unfortunately, adding lanes doesn't fix the problem-- making it easy for people not to drive their cars all the time does. It's called city planning.
