amazing

edit: I think there should be some sort of mandatory music history education courses for anyone attempting to commercially market their own music. Maybe like a 2 year degree program like one of those technical colleges.

the other day while channel surfing with a nice hangover, i made an ill-advised movie choice and they sang the lead song on the soundtrack. "casual sex" was stuck in my head for way too long. true story.

he has become admittedly a lot douche-ier in the last few years, but he's still adorable.

Adorable is not a word that would ever enter my mind regarding Mayer.

I think he's a great guitar player and several of his non-hits I like quite a bit, but he looks like a baby zombie who found a Welcome Back Kotter wig and a box of lemons.

Ahh, he did that Chappelle Show thing and seems like a decent enough kid. Everyone I know who knew him at Berklee has had nothing but good things to say about him as a person, though I understand he was a bit aloof.

also, ?uestlove LOVES him!

I saw him play with Herbie Hancock last summer and love him or hate him he was obviously just starstruck to be playing on the same stage as the man. So yeah I got no beef.

See this isn't what I'm talking about. Not a school for songwriting or playing, but where you're simply forced to listen to good music and understand th elineage of modern musical styles. I'm sure history is part of what's taught at Berklee, but it seems to focus more on developing technique, a career, etc.

Of course it wasn't a serious sentiment that good taste can actually be taught to anybody. But, you know, in a perfect world...

Also, I guess I should have figured that there would be such a thing as a music school that teaches songwriting (I went to art school after all), but reading about it just seems weird.
