but never posted it because I thought it might be unnecessary or stupid. But now I figure who cares if people think it's stupid.

It was for a sort of mini-obner database. As simple enough as a page with a link to a page for each person with a mini bio. Each person could list their basic, least personal details like first name, location, birthday, age, former usernames...

And somebody suggested a while back about an updated version of the CMJ'ers Revealed site. People could use this for that, posting a photo in with their bio if they so chose.

I'm not sure if it's really necessary. And I know a lot of people like to keep a relative anonymity and low profile on the net, which is understandable. This isn't mandatory, by any means.

I just thought it might get some people to know others better and make this even more of a tight-knit community (if that's possible).

Thoughts?

It's only weak because people give out varying amounts of personal information...you'd have the same problem with people filling out the php form anyway, so your suggestion hasn't really fixed the underlying problem.

We could also add a myspace button to every profile.

But that would mean everyone would have to be on myspace.

Yeah, I mean I'll willingly share any detail anyone wants to know. But all you can gather from my profile is the country I live in and a link to my livejournal.

I realise it varies wholly on who would be interested. That's why I was skeptical about it from the start.

I just thought it would be an idea. For instance, I know there's a bunch of Canadians on here but outside of DumpJack in Saskatoon and polly in Toronto, I have no idea where any of them are.

And I barely knew anyone's real name until I started sending out the valentines.

i think it's a good idea. Those who are interested can fill it out, and those who aren't don't have to do anything. At least the former has an option.

i suppose if I did a my space page, I'd fill it up with whimsical mundanities instead of things like my actual phone number and kids' blood types and what not.

Dunno. What is it? Tell me and I'll examine it for potential problems.

If I were to have a my space page it'd consist of streaming audio of The Polyphonic Spree's "A Long Day" accompanied by improvisational poetry about buddhist vaccuum cleaners.

The piece actually sounds like buddhist vaccuum cleaners performing Laurie Anderson's "Let X = X," so I probably should ramble on about cappuccinos, fashionable sweaters and pretentious art shows, too.

My car has an old cd player that reverts to the beginning of the track you were playing when you shut the car off. "A Long Day" is almost 38 mins long. It takes me 17 minutes to get to work. Which means if I ever want to hear the second half of the piece in the car, I'll have to fast forward to the middle.

Not that anyone can tell the difference between start and finish. It's just meditative breathing exercisies by buddhist vaccuum cleaners accompanied by a very serene dishwasher, anyway.
