LOS ANGELES - Actor Chris Penn is still dead after dying almost a month ago in a Santa Monica residence, with still no signs of foul play, a local ABC television affiliate desperate for news reported Tuesday.

Penn, 43, was the brother of actor Sean Penn and starred in dozens of films.

He played baby-faced criminal Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in director Quentin Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs” and starred along with his brother in the 1986 film “At Close Range.” He also played Willard Hewitt in “Footloose” in 1984. He also got national coverage last month for dying.

Not quite as recently, Penn voiced Officer Eddie Pulaski in the video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.”

Santa Monica police and the Los Angeles County Coroner were not at this time willing to exhume the body for more tests. "Face it, he's dead," responded the County Coroner. "Get over it."

Why did you bring this back up today? This, along with squashing that beetle in the yard this morning, is going to have me emotionally distraught all day.

Here is an update...

Actor Chris Penn died from the effects of a mix of medications and an enlarged heart, a Los Angeles coroner has ruled.

"There is absolutely no indication that this is anything but an accident," said county coroner spokesman Craig Harvey.

The main cause of death was "non-specific cardiomyopathy" - an enlarged heart - which had been effected by "multiple medication intake".

"We know he had several prescriptions, including promethazine with codeine, which featured predominantly in his death," said Mr Harvey.

Promethazine is an antihistamine and codeine is a painkiller which can also be used to treat severe coughs.

"We don't know how much he ingested or when. There are a lot of 'what ifs' to be factored in," said Mr Harvey.

Penn's heart weighed 700 grams, a few hundred grams heavier than the average heart.

He was not taking any heart medication at the time of his death, said Harvey.

A full coroner's report with more details will be available within the next few weeks.

Penn's latest movie, The Darwin Awards, was shown at the Sundance festival a few days after his death.

Cube,

can you delete your post so I can make a really corny/funny/cruel joke about how he died because he had a big heart? If only he had died on Valentine's.....
