And I mean emotionally.
Please hold all bowel jokes for later...

There is a reason this is among my favorite albums of all-time.

You have to at least like Holland 1945?

One of my favorites ever. Haven't listened to it in months because I'm still oversaturated on it.

I think it's a good album, but I don't think it's worthy of the immense, unending, massive love that it gets. No album is - this amounts to the same kind of hype we see for enormously successful mainstream releases. In other words, I think it seems more like a duty to love it as an indie-fan than the fact that it really is that great. There are hundreds of albums in my collection that I would listen to over this one most of the time.

It grows more and more one me, and I liked it a lot to begin with.

"Ghost" and " " (untitled) knock me over every time.

Still never heard this album, or anything from this band for that matter. I'll save it for later, when I'm in a rut or need to hear something new.

I actually became a fan with On Avery Island, having heard no hype about the band. The record was just playing in the store where I was shopping (yeah, one of those discoveries), I bought it, and fell in love.

When Aeroplane came out, I was one of the assholes at the back of the room shouting requests for "Song Against Sex" and "A Baby For Pree" because that was the stuff that I already knew and loved. It took a little while, but eventually Aeroplane surpassed the first album, for me.

But I still love 'em both, and not out of dutym because I think I was one of the jerks who helped start the whole buzz about them... at least at the street level, with my friends, who told their friends, etc. (Not that the press didn't have a say, too. But I hadn't read anything at that point.)

My love for this band is genuine and complete.

Here's to you, Jeff... wherever you are.

this post makes me sad.

Why? Because I dare to love other things than NMH? It's comments like this that make me sad.

This is a silly comment. You're essentially assuming that because you don't like it as much as other people say they do, those people must be exaggerating or deluding themselves.
