OK, I'm psyched about this regardless of who's directing, but...Michel Gondry? Quoi?

I watched Eternal Sunshine a few times this week and looked up his next film on IMDB and...well I'm just suprised is all.

I was surprised to see Gondry had a hand in this as well. Maybe hes just turning into Jonathan Demme.

I forgot to say last night that I went to see this. I dug it. Very good editing--not easy to fit numerous musical performaces, plus Dave being Dave into a 2hr docu. I have to say that the musical performances were very good. Of course, I'm a fan of musician driven hip hop (a la Roots crew) but Talib, Mos, Badu, Common, etc were all great. The Fugees back together? Magical. When they did "Killing Me Softly..." I had goosebumps. Lauryn Hill still has it, yet has sad eyes as my friend so eloquently put it afterwards.

The theater was bone dry too. I'd say maybe 20 people showed up. I hoped for more, but I am in podunk. If you get a chance then I highly rec it up. BTW--Gondry said in an interview over at Okayplayer that the DVD is gonna be packed with "hours" of more footage. Cannot wait.

great, hilarious movie. and yeah, the DVD is gonna be the fucking joint. because the concert was basically nonstop for a whole day. They didnt even play any of Common's songs. but yeah, great movie. it's just a concert film in essence, but it really shows why Dave is genuinely one of the funniest and wittiest people in entertainment, he's just always in his element.

I went in with no expectations and I don't really like hip-hop or R&B and I was blown away and singing along by the end of the flick.

It was well put together as I said before. The music and Dave shared spotlight without feeling rushed at anytime. You won't be bored. Plus, its not a "straight" docu about a Block Party.

Part of being a great documentarian is highlighting these people. The Ohio folks are absolutely great, but let's not forget the owners of the building and of course "Mr. T".
