So, around the time I posted that 'erasing songs from my iPod' thread that Swiateck and Katie were so kind to destroy, my iPod shit the bed. And how.

Wouldn't recognize that it was plugged in, and wouldn't erase. I, being easily distractable, stupid, lazy and broke, just kind of put it away...

And then this weekend, I just plugged the bugger back in, the cpu recognized it, I restored the settings, and started putting music back on it.

Now, to grab the back up HD, and drag all the shit back over, so I don't have to re-burn all those discs.

Crazy thing is, when this one broke, I pulled out my old scroll wheel, which had similar probs, and it did the same thing.

I think they have a killswitch, and that you can wait it out. Kinda like the check engine light on your car.

i thought my old one was broken, because the HD made a faint clicking sound when it tried to start and it wouldn't get far enough to let me do a restore... finally, after leaving it alone for months, i hooked it up and tried a format from DOS, and sure enough, it worked from that day forward. i replaced the battery and gave it to katie.

I'm giving the scroll wheel to Femgar
