My 8 year old daughter wants Franz Ferdinand, Flaming Lips and Air CDs for Christmas. Last Christmas she wanted Hilary Duff. She says "Take Me Out," "Do You Realize," and "Surfing On A Rocket" are "totally awesome."

This is the path to coolness. 10 years from now she can mock all the "sellouts and uncreative commercial bullshit pretending to be hip" (whatever that actually means), but for now I say thanks to certain types of commercial success.

My son has a crush on Hillary Duff. Though I'm not supposed to know that. He told Josh in secrecy last week when Josh came to pick him up at school. He told him not to tell me but it came out accidentally in a conversation(plus it's not like I'm gonna tell charlie sheesh). I think that's darned cute. It's better that he likes Hillary then Britney.

Oh and back to music, Charlie likes Alt Country and Americana bands. We've been listening to Whiskeytown and he said he really really likes it that it reminds him of Josh. !!!

And he thinks the song "they" by Jem is really cool.
