Speaking of Radiohead, the internet is presently a-buzz with news that the lads have resurrected the OK Computer-era track "Nude" for inclusion on their forthcoming studio record. Also known as "Big Ideas (Don't Get Any)", the recorded version will reportedly feature a string quartet. Wrote Thom on the always-quotable Radiohead blog:

"jonny is hastily writing out scores for a string quartet who are comign tommoro. right now we are working on nude, it sounds beautiful, as far as i can tell. i hope we dont get i'll. there is a lot of sickness about. especially for the children."

i'm actually anxious to hear this... i heard the mark ronson cover, it was very interesting to say the least. but a very eclectic mix of artists.. cinematic orchestra? matthew herbert? sia? yes please.

big ideas -- 1 of their best not on an album proper. good to see it finally included. not sure about strings though. they're usually the death knell for artists i like signaling an early ticket to irrelevency -- like the introduction of babies on long-standing tv shows.

This sounds like it could be so hit/miss. Radiohead just strikes me as a quintessentially poor choice to cover (for rock bands).

But the piano-based tributes, no vocals, were alright enough.

Most of the tracks suck really badly. Interested to hear the Sia track, but after hearing No Surprises, Nice Dream, Everything In Its Right Place, Exit Music, & Karma Police, I'm not holding out much hope for the rest of them. The Bad Plus doing Karma Police is OK, but does anybody else think that their covers are really getting old?

And as for Radiohead & strings, they've used them more than a few times to great effect, as in "How To Disappear Completely" & "Pyramid Song," just to name two.

OK, the Sia track sucks. Really, really sucks. Apparently you don't have to learn the lyrics before you cover a song. The rest is as bad, but this is the worst.
