The show last night here was very great. The new material sounds incredible, and points to an awesome next record: songs are a logical extension of where they've moved to with Feels with perhaps a tendency to more vaguely tribal rhythms, excellent bounce at times, usually very successful movement in composition, and notably dynamic timbre – minimalist concordance is the continuing theme. They played a little bit more familiar material than I was expecting, even delving back to Sung Tongs for "We Tigers", and I think this added well to the pace of the set.

Their performance definitely transferred well unto the larger stage, despite a normally repressed though enthusiastic Montreal crowd. Had the chance to puff some herb with half the band after the show, and they were very nice.

Defintitely go if you have the chance. And let me know that you are. I may have to ask that you hit merch for me, because they didn't bring much up to Canada.

Sounds like it was pretty excellent. Any time you get to socialize with a band after the show and they don't disappoint in person feels great, doesn't it?

Yeah, does. They seemed very glad to be playing.

Merch is priced very cheap. Bring moolah. Drinky, I may hit you up with an order.

What are you looking for?

They were sold out of a bunch of shit (like Wastered) by the time they made it here last. Hopefully that won't be the case now.

Did you by any chance catch First Nation or BARR? And, if so, is either band a must-see? I go Sunday.

What's "Wastered", Drinky? I'm not sure what I'll want. There's the Jane LP. Basically, anything on vinyl other than their three most recent albums. I bought the new Panda Bear 7, 2nd Terrestrial Tones, and Campfire Songs.

I missed Barr, but heard it wasn't good. I arrived during First Nation. I was high and needed to ease into the environment, so I spent the first bit avoiding their set. It seemed trippy. It might interest you.

It's their split with Black Dice. The Animal Collective half isn't that good actually. I don't know if I'd buy it or not, and I don't think it's available anymore anyway.

What's the Jane LP?

Jane is Avey Tare and someone ... can't remember. Ambient electronics, Paw Tracks. For some strange reason, there's a couple Grateful Dead Steal Your Face logos on the packaging ... And Brian/Geologist was introduced to me as an ex-Dead Head. I had to fess up to my past, then.

"Wastered" is worth buying based on the title alone.

Jane is Davey and one of the guys from Other/Music. And yeah, most of the band were former Deadheads, I believe, but Brian is the most outspoken of them.

There was a messageboard called 'Collected Animals' that was an Animal Collective fanboard. Sure, it was mostly 15-17 year olds (not that there's anything wrong with that), but Brian and Davey used to post on there a bunch. Unfortunately the website expired or whatever (there's a godaddy placeholder there now).

I'm curious to see if they're essentially playing the same tunes as the last European/NYC tour. Hopefully there's some more new tunes in there.

Glad to hear it was good though. I'll be checking them out here in Asheville in March. I can't wait.
