I have a flight to catch in a couple of weeks and I've lost my wallet with all my ID in it. Now, I don't know what to do. Will the airline let me on the plane? Has anyone experienced this before or does anyone know what my options are?

I'll have to call them tomorrow and find out.

You're going to need a new DL anyway - just hit up the DMV.

No, I don't. I knew not renewing it a few months ago would come back to bite me in the ass. :x

Edit: The only ID I have is my school ID. Would that work?

Sounds like the best advice. A new DL or State ID (I'm assuming you guys have those in NY)

Nope, it has to be a government issued ID.

Edit: As in a school ID won't work.

Your school ID will not work. Is there any reason why you can't go to the DMV?

I know you can rush passports for a few extra dollars.. I dont know if the DMV can rush you a new D/L though.

I lost my wallet the night before I left for Chicago. I sat down and cried and then the wallet magically appeared.

I don't have a DL. It expired and I never had it renewed since I don't drive.

I'm so fucked.

Yet if I had a criminal record, I could have an ID tomorrow.

Procedure in NY for non-driver state ID: http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/license.htm

If your DL expired less than 2 years ago, renew it: http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/license.htm#licenserenew

Well you clearly had some form of id in your wallet that was supposed to work or you were already f'ed. Just go and get a new one of whatever it was. I assume it was a state identification card.

I was in New Orleans a few years back and got pick pocketed. I was able to get my flight back with no id based on the the police report that my wallet had been stolen and my travel companions vouching for me. I can't remember if it was post 9/11 or not though.

You need a new id anyway. Go get one. Why is it more difficult than that. You have several weeks.

Go to the DMV and get a non-driver's state ID. Do you have a raised-seal copy of your birth certificate?

What other ID were you planning on using?

this thread should be revolving around why people don't keep better track of their personal items. how do you lose a wallet when there are so many important items in it? a friend of mine lost his cell phone two years ago and claimed to have no idea where it was. (he found it behind a cookie jar in his kitchen about four months later. no lie.) how many places could this wallet be?

I'm gonna go ahead and suggest you get a replacement ID.

I'm gonna try to get to the DMV and see if I can at least get a Non-Driver's ID. I only need six points and I think I have all the documents I need. Hopefully, I'll get it before I leave.

It took me 20 minutes to find my car keys this morning
One of the reasons I keep a land line is so I can call my cell phone to more easily to find it (I had to resort to this technique once in the last 24 hours)
I can't find the cd which contains one of the songs I want to put on my obner mix which is delaying my being able to mail
I haven't worked out since I moved because I couldn't find my headphones and I don't like working out without music. I ordered new headphones which arrived yesterday and I found my old ones this morning
I'm still can't find lots of assorted items 3 weeks after I've moved but I'm guessing most of them will randomly turn up over the next couple of months as I get better organized

In summary, I'm not going to give opa any crap about losing his wallet.

Almost everytime I drink I lose something of importance.
