4. Emo.
Like a Goth, only much less dark and much more Harry Potter.
My life sucks, I want to cry.

same here.

nothing makes you feel better when you're down than taking a couple of hours and wallowing in it.

There have to be better ways to wallow than listening to emo. Try some Smog or Songs: Ohia or Low or something.

Oh, that reminds me of something.

When my relatives were visiting at my parents' house for Christmas, my little cousin brought his PS2 and was playing some football game (I think it was NCAA 2006 or something). It had the weirdest soundtrack. Mostly it was a bunch of really annoying emo-type shit, and then all of the sudden it would throw on a classic like "Train in Vain". Almost none of which really seemed appopriate for a football video game.

I listen to it when I'm in college and unstable. I'm not in college though.

I'm pretty sure I'm still unstable.

Samiam and Get-Up Kids meant something, man.

Seriously. Put on the Slowcore Monger Mixes...or fucking old country songs. That whiny shit don't get no play around here.

Not that I really know anything about your tastes, but of those two I think you'd like Low more.

They aren't necessarily all that sad, but they're great for wallowing in a bad mood. My favorite of theirs is Things We Lost in the Fire.

I've never been much of a fan for what typically gets called Emo, Criteria is the only band I listen to on a regular basis that gets compared to that genre.
I think Old Country is a good way to go when you are depressed, I tend to like music that soothes my mood or makes me realize some people got it worse than me.
I like Low and Songs:Ohia, but I don't know if that does it for me.
I used to like listening Blaxploitation soundtracks, especially Superfly by Mayfield.
Now after a crappy day of work, I think I really like listening to !!!, especially Pardon my Freedom.

Ya, I'm the world's self-proclaimed oldest emo fan. I might be going to see Motion City Soundtrack w/Plain White T's on Sunday at the Marquee on Sunday. I know MCS is more power-pop than emo, but PWT's could be consider emo, kinda...sort of....okay maybe not EMO4LIFE

yeah that is a stretch...i consider both power pop..both decent live.

emo is such a BROAD mis-used term. hell one could argue most of everyone's top 20s of 2005 had at least a few bands that could be considered "emo". just another tag like indie rock to some degree. just another tag for the music snob haters to hate on.

oh, they are emo so blah blah blah......
