Any LA folks heard of these guys? They are getting some much deserved hype around here. I think this band has a lot of potential. Check them out. Thoughts?

I haven't heard of Cold War Kids, but word on the street is that Show Biz Kids are makin' movies of themselves, you know they don't give a fuck about anybody else. Lost wages.

I've heard of 'em, but have never seen them live or heard any of their music. Sorry, wish I could be of more help.

I wonder if they took their name from Billy Joel's "Leningrad."

Aural,

They will be opening for Two Gallants at the Troub on 4/4. You should take advantage. They kill live. They just added two new songs on their myspace which are fantastic. Sorry to street team, but these guys are my new obsession.

A friend of mine in LA (that used to post here - EDIT - wait... Brent, are you "Screech"?) turned me on to them a few months back. Never really go into them that much because I'm lazy.

Screech was right. These guys kill. Loved it and they stole the show from the other two bands. I'll be seeing them again on July 21 when they come through town and play Exit/In with Sound Team.

Pumachik included one of their songs on her recent mix and it is very, very good.

:rawk:

they opened for tapes 'n tapes at the spaceland show a couple of months ago... and it was one of those opening bands that i discovered & actually enjoyed.

basically they remind me a lot of the walkmen.

they're opening again for tapes 'n tapes on friday but that show is sold out and i have other plans so i won't be attending that show. they are GOOD live.

I caught the last song of their set opening for Tapes 'N Tapes and really enjoyed it. Damn me for being so cool and showing up late. Actually, a lot of the people in the small audience seemed to be there for them and not Tapes 'N Tapes. I should check out their myspace songs.

cold war kids seem to have a great local following here. funny how no one in la paid attention to the hype on tapes 'n tapes then (i was actually surprised by the turnout) and now the show @ the echo is sold out w/the same lineup.

"We Used to Vacation" is a great song; the other one I've heard was quite mehrific.

I know! I wanted to go to that one with Figurines, too. That would have been a great show. I figured I was in no rush :?.

It's so tough being ahead of the trend

I grabbed their EP after seeing them with Tapes N' Tapes...I've been listening to it quite a bit lately. I agree with Dri in that they sound a lot like The Walkmen, but with higher reaching vocals.

they certainly upstaged tapes n' tapes.
