I like it now that they got the deal with Spike TV and the fights are decent. I remember watching some of the early UFC videos and getting real pissed at how faked they were. I remember they had to stage some of the fights for a while due to the fights being illegal in alot of states and that Current Affair or some crappy show like that did an expose on them. I also remember Vince McMahon of the WWE/WWF owning it for a bit or having some sort of stake in it and they had Ken Shamrock and someone else on wrestling for a bit while I was in college.
Now that it is clearly mixed martial arts in the classic shoot fighting form, it has gotten alot better.

ive become a big fan. my allegience kind of shifted from wwe to ufc. i used to watch wwe religiously, but not since vince mcmahon turned raw and smackdown into the geezer hour with ric flair, the undertaker, shawn michaels, etc. vince mcmahon has managed to kill my love for wrestling, something i never thought could happen.

no offense but wtf are you talking about?
ufc was never fake or staged and vince mcmahon never had anything to do with it

but since dana white took over ufc a few years ago the sport and its fighters have improved and evolved by leaps and bounds

Supposedly in the early 90's around 94 from the article I read, UFC 1 was rigged for Royce Gracie to win and several martial arts styles such as Judo were excluded from the event. Ken Shamrock was a failed pro-wrestler before he and Dan Severn began to compete in shoot fighting and then later UFC.
I was mistaken on the Vince McMahon account, he signed Severn and Shamrock to try to steal the thunder from UFC.
After several states made moves to ban Ultimate Fighting, the sport began to regulate itself with unified rules in 1996. Several promoters had allegedly been rigging events before then to avoid some of the serious injuries that were occurring due to non-regulation of the sport.
I don't doubt it has improved since Dana White took over, it was just prior to that time that there has been at least some evidence of it being sports entertainment like wrestling.

maybe in little underground shows but ufc was always legit, in the beginning royce was probably catered to as far as draws in the tournaments but thats as close to rigged as it got
