This Dominican/Venezuela game is amazing thus far. I've gone from mildly interested to pumped.

I've been interested in the WBC despite the bad publicity it's been getting.

I saw a few minutes of that game when I was in a bar picking up a ticket for a show earlier. It looked pretty intense but I forgot about it 5 minutes after I left.

What channel is this on?

What bad publicity? The Yankess [sic] thing? I thought that was Steinbrenner getting bad publicity.

I listened to a lot of the game on XM yesterday. Heard the Chipper homer and the USA pitching just kicking ass.

Mike Schmidt was doing color on the game. Love Mike, Hall of Famer, etc. but Good God was he terrible. Just wretched.

If they did this in December, it would have been the ultimate hotness. Nothing as exciting as watching starting pitchers go a whopping 3 innings.

Sports radio has been absolutely hammering the event. Saying it was unnecessary and contrived.

I wonder how the other countries feel about it.

I think the Dominicans and their ilk are stoked.

I bet the Japanese are pretty pumped as well.

Why is it being broadcast from 1984? Are they trying to give it that ESPN Classic look?

id imagine theyre trying to do it on the cheap. i dont think ESPN is making any money on the deal since there wasnt a big clamor for "broadcasting rights"

and yeah, like I said before, that broadcast on XM was such fucking amateur hour. The PBP guy couldnt figure out who made the last out.

The fact that Steinbrenner doesn't approve of the WBC can only help its popularity.
