Yes, they still exist.

New single, "Worldwide Suicide," is available for free download as of today on their website http://www.pearljam.com

It's pretty rockin'.

New self-titled album May 2 on J Records.

Sort of on the subject but I heard a radio commercial (on Sports Talk Radio mind you) with Mike McCready for I guess the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

I was only half paying attention but there was a mention of anal bleeding.

And I'll check out this new PJ when I get home.

Nicole was a big fan.

They're remarkable these days because everyone talks about how labels don't cultivate career bands anymore, and they realized the best way make a career out of the whole racket was to keep as much control as possible, occasionally make unpopular career moves and do what they felt was the best long-term move.

Even if I'm lukewarm on their recent records, I respect the hell out of the way they've carried themselves.

In my opinion Yield and No Code are underapperciated. I think they both stack up well against their previous work. Binaural had some good songs but had some misses too. A friend of mine who was a PJ fanatic killed himself about the same time it was released, so I have an emotional attachment to it. The last one sucked.

Yeah, I threw them on a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how much better they were compared to my initial recollections. No Code especially. Hail, Hail was always awesome, though.

Gonna download the new one now.

I like this track, it seems a bit more enthusiastic sounding than a some of their recent songs. I'll be interested to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.

Was Binaural there last one?

No, Riot Act which is mostly forgettable.

Yeah, I really enjoy both those records.

God, we used to cover "Hail, Hail" what a monster of a song.

Riot Act was pretty spotty though I gotta say there were a few good tracks.

I think that it was a "Merkinball" single called "Long Road Home" or something like that.

I have found at least a reasonable level of enjoyment from every album they've released. So I'm looking forward to the album.
