I'm finalizing my schedule over the weekend and would love to see those of you going at some of the shows. Please post your schedule.

I arrive on Wednesday early afternoon and leave mid-morning on Sunday. Am staying at the Crowne Plaza (they recently changed the name to Capital Place Hotel) located "one block from Austin's legendary 6th Street Entertainment District" -- great stumbling distance!

Jagged, Chuck and I have already exchanged phone numbers. Shiv? FT? Chad? I need yours, muchachos!

Let's see, I also leave on Wednesday. I will probably get to Kuwait on Thursday night and fly out to Iraq on Friday. I'll probably try to avoid getting caught in any small arms firefights or motar attacks on Saturday and play some touch rugby on Sunday...WAIT... Oh, you meant South by southwest the music festival. I though you were talking about south by southwest in terms of global positioning on the contenient of Asia. Sorry, my bad

swiateck is arriving Monday, and will be my most constant companion on the path to drunken enlightenment next week.

I, of course, live here, and will be available at almost any time all week long. I expect to be hanging out with jagged, swiateck, and shiv the most, because aural is being anal about never missing a show (you gotta pace yourself, babe ;)). It seems that shawn and bob will be crashing at my place. shiv, i'm still working on the wristbands, they all sold out in less than 11 hours and they haven't released any more yet. I got tendrils out scoping for free passes/wristbands, but no go as of yet.

What night should we get a keg? I am looking forward to all of this immensely - this'll be the obnish's first exposure to drunk, single, fun colin. It shall be epic in proportions.

Pfffft...whatEVER! I didn't spend $1000+ to hang out and drink beer, especially on a prime band night. 'Sides, for those of you interested, we can still do lunch, hell even a late breakfast.

And, Bob, looks like I won't be seeing you, m'dear. :(

Did you see Amoeba is sponsoring a tribute to Gram Parsons? With free admission, food and beer.

I can't remember many of the acts participating but they included Tim Easton and Tony Gilkyson.

I arrive Tuesday (14th) around 11am or so and I'm in town until Monday (20th) sometime in the afternoon. I'm staying at the Super 8 in north Austin. I'll pm my cell # to everyone.

There's only like 3 or 4 bands I REALLY need to see so whatever else anyone wants to do, I'm game. I did print out a list of shows I'd like to go to but it's nothing concrete.

Oh, Parts & Labor are playing at The Velvet Spade on the 16th if anyone wants to see Whiney.

Pitchfork and the Windish Agency Ready to Rock SXSW

Amy Phillips reports:
Although it may seem hard to believe, South by Southwest isn’t just about schmoozing with publicists, loading up on schwag, and signing the next Vines to your major label subsidiary. It’s also about awesome bands playing for free under the Texas sun.

If you’re lucky enough to be traveling to Austin next week, but not lucky enough to have scored a badge or wristband, don’t worry: Pitchfork still loves you. Anybody can come to our day party, co-presented by our friends at the Windish Agency, taking place at Emo’s Annex, located at 600 Red River Street, on Friday, March 17. It’s open to the public and completely free. Bring grandma.

Our talent lineup is smokin’ hot. In addition to performances from Death Vessel, Jose Gonzalez, Art Brut, Love Is All, the Juan Maclean, Ladytron, Spank Rock, Matthew Dear, and Hot Chip, we’re also offering RjD2’s only solo set at SXSW. (He’ll perform with Blueprint as Soul Position at the Rhymesayers showcase at Emo’s Main Room later that night.)

Funnydude Patton Oswalt will host the festivities, and doors open at noon sharp.

Here’s how things will go down:

12:30pm Death Vessel
1:00pm Jose Gonzalez
2:00pm The Juan Maclean
2:30pm Ladytron
3:00pm Hot Chip
3:30pm Spank Rock
4:00pm Matthew Dear
4:30pm Love Is All
5:00pm Rjd2
5:30pm Art Brut

Special thanks to the fine folks at Ticketweb for helping us get this party started.
