Holy shit. These two 2-disc sets (~80 songs total) arrived concurrently today and let me just say, I am tres impressed. Plenty of songs Ive never heard of from artists I wouldnt even know where to find.

I know you guys probably just had these 'lying around' but this is exactly the sort of reason I love this board...obviously they could turn out be shiite, but somehow I dont think so.

Many thanks, you two. Above and beyond.

Yes, I've listened to one of Drinky's cd's so far, and I like it a lot. Haven't gotten to the Fonotone one yet. Haven't gotten Billy's yet, but I'm sure it will be good.

Man, I'm so expecting a lot of people to hate those Fonotone and Unlistenable mixes...

But I hope I'm wrong! I'm sure you'll like at least some songs.

I'm particularly interested in seeing if anyone else digs that Fonotone stuff.

And sorry if the Unlistenable one seems overly indulgent.

Both of these dudes give good mix.

Of stuf you would otherwise probably never encounter.

(Or like ;) )

I saw the one song titled "Dress Sexy at my Funeral," and I knew it would be good.

How's that stones mix coming along senator?

Glad to see these are finally showing up. After saying I made them as if I were making them only for myself, I find that i am more anxious than I thought I'd be to hear what people think.

np: opa's mix

You son of a bitch!! ;)

I have made progress, and by progress I mean, gotten all my discs out of boxes, etc...

You'll see it, trust me. And Emotional Rescue.

Actually, one of my old college roommates hosted a bluegrass show at the station we worked at, so I'm sure I'll like some of it. Just the names are great:

Tennessee Mess Arounders
Jolly Joe's Jug Band
Mississippi Swampers
Possum Holler Boys

Heh. Yeah supposedly Joe Bussard made up most of those names on the spot when he was recording them.

"OK, we'll call you the Bald Knob Chicken Snatchers."

I gotta say I'm really looking forward to hearing the fonotone stuff. Anyone else receive mine yet? I'm a little surprise Cupid got it this soon but I did mail about 12 the same day. Anyone have a chance to listen yet?
