anyone watch this after the sopranos?

i think it has some real promise...although watching the opening scene while my mom was in the room was somewhat uncomfortable.

chloe sevigny actually looks somewhat decent too.

I was kinda bored with it for the first half hour or so, but it caught my interest toward the end. For some reason, I thought it was only a half hour show. Definately giving it a few more chances.

By the way, SOPRANOS WAS FUCKING AWESOME.

think the show looks ok...agreed.

sevigny looks pretty nasty in my opinion. i think the other 2 are hotter, especially the young one (who is probably kicking herself for leaving Johnny Cash)

i like the whole compound thing - paxton's mother is friggin nuts.

i hated this show, and it makes me wonder if i can accept polygamy as ever occuring between consenting adults that i don't think should be set on fire. Every time Paxton makes that shitty face i wanted someone to say "I think i found your problem, buddy, it looks like you got three wives here".

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to HBO's next original series: With A Wink And A Smile in which they exploit the entire Catholic religion for gay priest pedophilia. I've heard that Randy Quaid's portrayal of Father McPheely is already generating Emmy buzz.

Strong work HBO.

I thought it was okay. I'll tune in a few more times to see where it goes, but I can't say I found it thrilling. The clans were creepy in a Carnivale kind of way.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid, mang. I mean, you know as well as anyone that the preponderence of multi-marrying in this country is in the hill country along the UT-AZ border. It is a real thing.

Now, HBO might take liberties, putting the polygamist amongst a subdivision of singly-married individuals, but that's dramatic licence.

Deal with it.

Trust me, I'm dealing just fine, and haven't had Kool-Aid in years. I realize that the majority of polygamous families reside in the mountain west---I've taken care of a few of them. I don't belong to the Mormon Church, nor any other religion.

My point (let me bring out the sledgehammer), is that I feel like the Mormon religion is too easily mocked and takes a lot of shit that should be equally directed at every other religion out there, but is not.

Not that all religions can't be this simplified but:

"I was walking through the woods today, and THE ARCHANGEL GABRIEL appeared to me. He gave me some tablets. I FORGOT where I buried them. LEt's go to Illinois...they hate us here: QUICK TO THE DESERT!! We can marry as many as we like, don't like them blacks, and eventually can get our own universes!!"

Sounds more like a cult than Scientology to me.

Oh, and this show was a bit much watching with the future in-laws...but the chick from the Cash movie has that pudgy/sexy look GOIN ON!!

Yes, this is far less plausible than all other religions.

As you see above, I did catch this. I'd actually like to see your Cliff Note's version of all the religions, though.

i actually think scientology is weirder than mormonism after reading that article someone posted on rad's scientology thread. an intergalactic madman killing all the aliens from the surrounding galaxies in a volcano... now that's priceless.
