So now the board is working properly and I have internet access today, I can now post my weekend concert experience.
The show was held at the Scottish Rite Center in Omaha, so there was alot of creepy Masonic shit there and a crap ton of Albert Pike busts.
Whispertown 2000 opened the show, the primary vocalist was a girl who seemed to be high or drunk. She had a very annoying speaking voice, and a somewhat bad singing voice. They didn't have a drummer, but that didn't really seem to handicap them. They were decent, but not much more than a good opener.
Jonathan Rice played next, I guess he is Jenny Lewis's boyfriend now. He is originally from Scotland, but I believe he is residing in California now. I personally thought he was a little better than Jenny Lewis, but it might be due to the fact that I have seen Rilo Kiley several times and am used to her performances. He covered one of my favorite Neva Dinova tunes, since Jake Bellows of Neva Dinova was in attendance.
During the Jenny Lewis performance everyone who had been seated on the carpet area in front of the theatre seats stood up, so we all had to stand up and move closer to the stage. I thought her performance was sort of mediocre, the only thing that made it outstanding was a new song that her and Jonathan Rice sang together where everyone jammed out and during "Born Secular" at the end of her set, when drummer Jason Boesel played an amazing drum solo to end the song before the encore.

She wasn't showing alot of cleavage like she has at other shows. I also forgot to add that the Watson twins are incredibly mannish and not very attractive. They probably could have played in the WNBA if they weren't gospel singers.

one of my coworkers saw her last night in chicago and said "she looked like a nun f*cked a cowboy". he wasn't impressed considering earlier in the day, he was contemplating throwing an engagement ring at her during the show.

Tomorrow night. I have high hopes.

I saw Rilo last May and though they were pretty good, and this album's one of my fave of the year.

So, I saw them last night.

I hadn't heard anything by Whispertown 2000 going in and I was pleasantly surprised. The girls' voice annoyed me at first but I got used to it. So I ended up picking up their album afterwards.

I found Johnathan Rice to be pretty bland. Not bad. Stuff I wouldn't mind listening to at home. But live, it just got really boring. Luckily, he only played maybe 15 minutes before cashing it in.

J. Lew & The Watsons astonished me. All three of them have such a set of pipes on them. And the rocking numbers were much more energetic than I would have expected. The accapella cover of 'I Met Him On A Sunday' may have been my favorite but I loved 'You Are What You Love' too.

It was easily my favorite concert in a long time and it's hovering around my top three of all time right now, I think.
