I got my acceptance letter today.. however, my parents don't want to financially support me through this and would not allow me to bask in the glory and happiness bestowed upon me through receiving the acceptance letter, and instead bitched and bitched and bitched about financial obligations.

Oh well. I'm excited. That was my top school, too.

Good job, kid.
Get a loan and pay for yourself. Then lord it over your parents about how they didn't help you do shit ;)

well with interest it'd be over 200 thousand. I plan on taking a large portion of the money upon myself, though. If i paid half it'd take me 13 years to pay it off, if I paid about 6 or 700 dollars a month. I think that's a lot of money per month, though. Is that too much? What's realistic?

Congrats. It all depends on your earning expectations once you graduate.

awesome. congrats.

now....get yourself some financial aid!
there's a zillion grants out there that you don't have to pay back. you just need to do some research to find them. there's a grant for everything. look into scholarships too.

you can do this yourself. i did.
well, i didn't have to pay $200K but my school wasn't cheap either.

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

if you were my kid we'd be headed out to dinner to celebrate! this is awesome. is this the place you had to do all of the assignments for?

THEN my ass would be down to the financial aid office* to see what, if any, of our options would be tpo pay for this sucker.

money is money and you'll probably have to borrow some--hopefully not all--of it but this could be a great experience.

for now...bask in it.
your talent and perseverance have paid off.

*this is where i'll be in a few weeks. my daughter is a junior and i've got to figure out how to pay for half of what i'm sure will be a small private school. i'm too old to be a hooker or donate my eggs so i'm not sure what i'll do.

well this is not the one i had to do the projects for. those are due in about a week and a half.

this is my top school, though.
i've applied for about 6 or 7 scholarships and haven't gotten anything.
i'm applying for two more that i know of, and tonight i'll most likely write atleast two essays for other scholarships. but the other two are based on art.
i need money.
i'm even going so far as to contact my biological mother (we don't speak) to see if she'll shell out some money or atleast sign for loans.

I have a job. I barely get 100 dollars per two weeks. I don't ever get hours because they're money hungry bastards.

I DEFINITELY plan on holding a job when I go to school. I also plan on doing those work study things, where it gets you tax breaks or something.

definitely.

it's tough for me to get a lot of financial aid, though, because i fucked up during high school and didn't put a large amount of effort in to school so my GPA isn't extremely high.
it's not terrible, but nothing compared to my peers.

not to burst your bubble but $600-$700/mo to pay off your loans straight out of school would be virutally impossible unless you went directly into investment banking or something. which is not to discourage you. I too am about to take on hundreds...of thousands...in debt...

i figured it would be impossible.
it'd take about 25 years if i paid like 3/400 or something.
i don't remember, i calculated it a while ago.

The interest is so low, there's no reason to hurry.

AND, if this is some kind of awesome school, its not just the education, but the connections that will help you.

Congratulations, you arty little tart, you. Welcome to the massive debt club. I will be paying loans on my undergrad, master's, and ph.d. for probably most of my academic career. at least it's "good" debt.
