I helped a friend move this past weekend. We actually got her couch wedged in the entrance to her building, and it took a good 20 minutes to dislodge.

that sucks. i'm paying movers, so my stuff better not get stuck.

i'll just keep distracting myself with the interweb and hope this packing finishes itself...

Just throw it all out and buy new stuff when you get there.

I fucking hate moving companies. I used two different companies last year, my wife moved here first in February and I moved out at the end of April. Both companies were equally shitty.

They only broke one dresser, so I guess that's a good thing.

my movers are friends of friends, so i still have to pay them, but at least they suck less than standard movers. but then i have to throw in pizza and beer when really i'm sure i'll just want everyone out of my house. man, i'm a whiner tonight.

here's a good idea: don't pack anything. ask red to help you move. and when she shows up, be online.

I'm considering a move back to Lincoln Square in May when my lease is up. Jefferson Park is for the birds.

yikes, that's pretty far out there. you might want to start apt hunting now then.

i'm just goin from bucktown to logan square and i'm worried that will be too far west.

I know I'll eventually cave in and just stick around here, but it would be nice to be closer to civilization. Unfortunately, my dramatically shorter commute to work is what keeps me out here. Also, apartment prices are generally about $200-300 less than comparable places in Lincoln Square (I'm paying $550 for a 1 bedroom that includes utilities).

I miss you, corner of Lincoln and Leland.

you're kidding right?

close to 94, major east/west streets and north/south streets, and the blue line...

once you're here you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I heart logan.

from the title alone, i thought this thread was going to be along the same lines as OPA's "I did something bad" thread.

Didn't move one in my four years in Denver. Have moved twice in my four years in the UK. Probably due for another one this summer. Not a fan.

moving blows. I've moved 10 times since 1997 and there's no end in sight.

its mostly that i won't be within walking distance of my favorite bucktown places anymore. its a small thing, i know. so far i really like how logan is more of a place where people actually know their neighbors. and i dont have to see one condo development after another.

In loving memory:

"Yesterday I helped a friend stay put. It's a lot esier than helping them move. I just go over to their house and make sure they don't start loading shit into boxes."
