After reading that Grups article in New York Magazine, I decided to click the link to this Article about 9/11 Conspiracies

Pretty interesting, to say the least. I have read "Behold a Pale Horse" and many other conspiracy tomes (60 Greatest of all time, which covers everything from Merovingian/Da Vinci Code Jesus Kids, to Acid spiking CIA agents to the Faked Moon Landing) and I have come to the conclusion that 3 peopl can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead. Peoplw want to believe this stuff because it is easier to blame some vast conspiracy of people who have always controlled the planet (Knight Templar, Elders of Zion) for your failings and untapped potential than is to just admit that we are not all unique snowflakes...

So, I vote B.

Let's just cut the bullshit and become a secret society. The Masonic Temple in DC is just more traffic than I feel like navigating.

I vote B. The Gubbermint is slow & dum, and there ain't much we can do to really stop shit like this.

I voted Let It Happen, but that doesn't exactly describe what I believe. I think they had enough evidence in front of them to know it was a looming danger, and they didn't act on it.

Pretty much to a T what they did with Katrina, as well.

Edit: I'm an idiot, I should have voted B. A couple beers and my reading comprehension goes out the window.

I'd probably go with 'B' as well based on the evidence. But I've known a few academics who have seriously lectured me on variations 'C' and 'D'. I honestly didn't know what to think to be honest because these were (seemingly) reasonable people with serious hard-science backgrounds going on about 9/11 conspiracies. It was kind of off-putting actually.

Also, when was the last time the government tried to pull some shit and it actually worked. We still haven't killed Castro.

Depends on how you define incompetence. There were probably tons of clues about plenty of things that didn't happen as well. You can come up with a conspiracy theory that the government should have known about everything: Pearl Harbor, Lincoln's assassination, JFK's killing, etc, etc.

I still vote B.

Anyone who votes D desperately needs to doff the tinfoil hat and read this. Anyone who reads that and continues to choose D, please exit life immediately.

I actually voted A. Could the government handled it better and known about it? Probably. But I seriously believe it was a different world then. Much more naive about how vulnerable we are here. We were lulled into a false since of security. I think most Americans not just the government didn't really think about that as a possibiity.

And people who buy into a conspiracy theory need to have their head examined.

If someone told me that Bush & Co. made 9/11 happen, I'd probably just shrug because it wouldn't surprise me... sometimes I think the gov't is just one big fat secret society that pols are born into. However, because I'm not a raving conspiracy theorist, I think it just happened. I'm sure the gov knew it was coming, just not that magnitude and on that day specifically.

(I did vote D, though. Just to shake things up a bit.)

That's an interesting read for sure.

This made me chuckle for some reason.

I vote B

In all seriosity, I really lean more toward A, but voted B because we know that they had some signs that something was going on, but I really doubt that any administration would have done anything. Not out of malice, just because nothing like it has ever happened before and, as we all know, we Americans tend to be the kind of people who don't act on something until we've been shown it can happen. And then we overreact. And ignore all other possibilities because they've never happened before.

What I love about people who would pick D is that they're the same people who talk about how the Bush administration is so incompetent. Incompetency negates the ability to pull off the biggest conspiracy the world has ever known.

This is going to sound really weird, but the naive little kid in me sometimes feels like all of the governments of the world are playing a game using nations and people as gamepieces. Like, "I'll see your Iraqi war and raise you a Darfurian genocide." Stupid, I know, but I have a lot of hours in my day to daydream.

I voted B, Bush was too busy taking vacations and reading to kids rather than governing. His Cabinet were far too consumed with already planning an Iraqi invasion and pursuing their Neo-Con dreams. The FBI and CIA were and still are basically in shambles and basically hated each other.
Like myself, most of them still believed no one would be crazy enough to do something like that and had been previously taught that the first major terrorist attack would be a dirty bomb or chemical weapons attack.

i dont believe in many conspiracies. some people call me naive but i worked in the federal government - i just dont see those people pulling of any large scale conspiracies like this. it would be uncovered.
