Fans of Cinematic Orchestra & Amon Tobin & Tortoise....alert!

Loka's "Fire Shepherds" album out soon on Ninja Tunes is EASILY one of the best albums i've heard this year. So moody, atmospheric, and expansive. Psyche out jazz experimentation similar to Miles, mixed with spaced and faded Prog influences...this is some heady shit. If you're looking for some music that's a bit more challenging than the majority of the indie rock that get's name dropped, look into Loka. It'll be worth your trip.

This is definitely an awesome song of that album, but I find it hard to choose one over any other. Definitely transcending the electric Miles tip.

Loka will appeal to those of you who took to Super Numeri's "The Welcome Table", perhaps more so. This project, which shares a member, is less sprawling than that other mindfuck album from earlier this year.

I like the "meet dad" track but thats about it. I fail to see what stands out on this over most of the stuff thats been released lately on ninja. Yeah on some tracks the strings and bass sound cool. But i fail to hear any kind off an outstanding album. Just listen to some classical music if you want to be "challenged" by a songs arrangement. Maybe i need to give it a few spins but i think Fink does more for me than what these guys do.

I do like a lot that Ninja are doing, Spank Rock are fucking cool although it's not my type of thing but Daedelus are the kings for me.


But if you keep to the same line thats its so way above people then it won't be long before everybody jumps on the bandwagon and proclaims it the f.cool.

That guys been clown status with me for what must be well over 10 years. Whenever i am out with the lads and we hear a bad rave or acid jazz track, a quick chorus of "fink" followed by bursts of laughter is always heard. And now he's REBORN and he likes the gui-tar.

But that Daedelus guy. He makes me dance, and i don't usually do "dance" unless my blood is so flooded with alcohol that you can drain half a pint and sell it as decent moonshine.

I should have said that Fink is beyond me. I don't quite get it. But he's getting a lot of awesome UK press.
