so, what's the consensus on the 4bg nano (other than the fact it can't hold the complete lirbrary of congress ike the 60gb ipods). how's the battery life--i'd imagine having no hard drive bumps up the time between charges? does having no hard drive also reduce the risk of it crashing?

currently, i'm operating with an original 5gb ipod that's hanging in there (while mlle's touch-wheel one has crashed like 6 times). maybe i should just crack it open and change the battery which is my only beef with it right now.

changing the battery's really easy. i got mine with a kit and instructions at batteryship.com - came fast, and i had the whole operation done in like 20 minutes.

yeah, mlle's little cousin looked at it the other day and almost didn't recognize it was an ipod. i have to admit it made my inner holier-than-thou-indie-rock-nerd smile. . .

man, for $50 bucks more you could get the 30gb video, which is REALLY thin also and has done me well.

I agree. I had the nano originally, and if it hadn't completely stopped working on me after a week, I would have sent it back to amazon due to lack of space. 4gb is nothing. I thought I could just switch stuff out on the nano, but it's so much more convienent to just throw everything on the 30gb.

heh. when you plug it into your computer, does your computer say "is it in yet?"

yeah, but i have a 5gb now and it's not bad--i actually find when i had more memory that i would just listen to the same things and now the pulling on and off reminds me of all my other music.

other than the legitimate concerns with space, i've heard complaints about the nano's screen - that it scratches/breaks very easily.
