The last time the Flaming Lips were good was 1991.

i always get oddly annoyed when people stand up and move towards the door waaaay before their train stop, or when reviewers call albums 'discs'.

Radcliffe may be Grelber from Broomhilda, but Blue Milk is more like Muppet Baby Gonzo in need of a nap.

I could read Wayne Coyne's thoughts on music all day. I just love his perspective.

not much could sway my appreciation for this band. They have pushed the envelope, and delivered in some way on all their albums. I plan on picking this up asap. I try not to listen to reveiws of bands I enjoy. I've heard the hissing about this one, but it isn't deterring me in the least.

Yes, I would pay $50 to see them. Coyne and co. always put on a great show.

Why do you feel that 1991 was their last great year/album?

I picked this up at lunch and four songs in I'm bored to tears. Here's hoping it gets better in the second half and/or with more listens.

i've listened to this album a couple dozen times

loud helps it a lot
and more listens helped a bit too

kind of depressing
all the death focus
(that never seems to change with them)

but what i really admire is that every album sounds different

read a lot of reviews that said it sounds like yoshimi
thats crap

and people bitch about how nothing
is as good as soft bulletin and shit
but seriously
i bet there'd be more bitching
if they did that sound again and again

i vote yes if you haven't seen them before.
if you have then it's just a question of if you enjoyed it that much or not.

personally, i wouldn't. saw them with wilco on NYE 04 at MSG and it was very disappointing. one of the few times i've been at a concert where i wished i was listening to the studio recording. 'spoonful weighs a ton' sounded terrible. wayne was so lacking in stage presence.

Wow, I saw them this past Saturday night at Webster Hall and...it was easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to, period. Non-stop smiles all-around.

And the YYY song sounded tremendous live.
