question is, "how much do you want to spend on your meal?"

the new tex tubb's taco palace at atwood & winnebago would be a good start. the taco's are excellent, especially the fish, and they're no more than $3.75 a piece. the margaritas are decent too. it's been really crowded, and it's pretty noisy. so don't know if it'd be such a great "first date" place.

old fashioned, on the square, is another good new place. great sandwiches, but the baked mac-n-cheese rules! the atmosphere's good, but you might get caught up w/ their excellent new plasmas showing espn.

kinda pricey for pizza, but the roman candle on willy could suffice (gotta plug it, cause my buddy owns it). oh, another good pizza joint is the glass nickel on atwood (more intimate).

burgers at the harmony bar or at the blue moon.

hope those help, but if you really want to impress her and you're on a budget, then cook for her yourself! grill some steaks. bake some potatoes. mix a salad. buy a good 6er -- all for under $20!

haha, that was our first date exactly, except replace the salad with asparagas and the sixer with a bottle of red.

great suggestions otherwise...and I guess I'm not that broke, I'm just not looking for 5 star places is all.

Wow. I would agree and frequent ALL of those places on a regular basis. I haven't found a better burger for the money than Harmony. I wasn't that impressed with Old-Fashioned though. But I also was very drunk so...

I'm a sucker for the Gulash @ The Weary Traveler though. If it wasn't for the fact that people there can be a bit too cool for school I'd go there a hell of a lot more than I do.

I like Tuttu Pasta on King St. as well. Not that expensive for what you get there.

God luck bro.

3.75 a taco is about 2 bucks too much. Jeezus.

Drive to chicago and you about break even on gas, and probably get a better taco, and then you won't have to hear snide comments about how the second date was to Tex Tubb's Taco Palace.

Maybe the taco has hair around it and that's why it's $3.75. Obnrs NEVER throw out snide comments do they?
