I am purchasing a new laptop and am selling my desktop for one of my friends.

I am removing all of my purchased and added programs, but is there anything I can do to sort of wipe the sucker clean so he can get this thing so it is as close to new as possible?

you can restore it to the point where it was like it just came out of the box. dont recall how though....

start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore i think it is....... yo umay need any original disks that came withthe computer as well, although newer desktops have all that stuff built inside it

Format the hard drive and reinstall windows.

If you aren't dong that, just remove all the programs, and for god's sake delete your cookies.

How do I reinstall windows? Do I need a disk for that? I am not sure that that disk is still in my ownership...

Then don't do that.

And keep track of the next one you get with your laptop.

If you dont have the OS, then I would be very careful in what you do (depending on your level of computer knowledge).

If you dont have the OS, why not wait until you sell it and see whether they want the computer wiped of programs.. Id simply defrag it, and wait.

I think the best bet for me is just to delete cookies and all that and get rid of like Limewire and Adobe Photoshop CS and all those types of programs, partly for him but mostly because I don't want him having an 800 dollar editing program for free. haha.

thanks everyone.
