I hope they steal Beltran and kick Slammin Sammy. But I'm a Red Sox fan first, who respects the Cubs. Hey they did get Todd Walker and Nomah.

I can't believe that they're letting Clement get away. His record should have been better last year...

They're going to lose out on Alou also - looks like.

What are they doing?

Here's what i hope they do:

Pick up about 12 or 13 million of Sosa's contract so he can play right fiel for the Braves this year. I fucking hate Sammy more than any other player in baseball, but for 1 year I'll make an exception...

Whatever the Cubs do, it won't matter----they're losers. Nomar has no heart.

Even my lowly Royals are making ripples by signing young, unproven pitchers Eli Marrero and Leo Nunez for less than $1.5 mil; affording them to jettison 60-yr old catcher B. Santiago. This leaves a less-than-meaty line-up of M. Sweeney, A. Berroa, J. Randa & A. Guiel to lead us into October. I'll be happy if we make it to June.

Eli Marrero is neither young, unproven, or a pitcher.

This is true.
I guess I sort of figured it a forgone conclusion.

But Nomar is a good thing.

I'm just waiting onthe whole Sammy drama, I guess. I just want it over with.

Unless this is another Eli Marrero who's young , unproven and unknown.

That's a good pick-up IMO.

Is it that Alou would've cost that much to keep?

Why isn't he back in the OF for the Cubs?

alou is old, will not repeat the same numbers as last year, whines and moans like a little bitch, has no idea what he's doing when running the bases, and can't play defense. his saving grace is his bat, but he's really, really streaky. i'm glad he's gone.

I want sammy gone, but I will be very, very surprised if it happens now, unfortunately. I thought sending him to the mets was going to happen, but that was before they signed pedro. i'm watching espn right now, and they just said that teams are expecting the cubs to pick up like 80% of the remaining contract. so, is it worth it to the cubs to just that much money to get rid of sosa( they have to eat part of it anyway)? A part of me says yes just to get him out, but because it's the cubs, i can see sosa going to another team and going fucking crazy and putting up monster numbers.

No, I'm trusting the Braves scouting staffs' incredible talent for scouting pitching on this trade because I really like the hustle that Marrero that brought us last year.

Starter? Not here, but as a fourth outfielder/utility guy he can play on my team anytime. Holla at ya folks Eli!

He can be a fucking monster. Led the Cubs staff with 190 strikeouts last year. On occasion, he can loose it for a game or two, but for the most part, he is a goddamn good pitcher. He just got shit for run support last year -- if the team had decided to hit on days that he was starting he would have won 17-18 games. Seriously.
