I know we have a few Maryland people who post here and a DC person. I wasn't sure if maybe someone who posts here went. Blue Milk and I caught the show tonight, and it was better than last years byfar.
Awwww. Murph smiled at me a few times, and J. Mascis gave me a death stare when I smiled at him.
I stayed after to try to get a set list. I did the last time they came to the 9:30 club but had no luck tonight. Oh well. It was typed anyways. The one I own has pictures drawn of it. They drew the Bad Brains album cover with the lightning hitting the Capital.
Priestess opened for Dead Meadow, who opened for Dinosaur Jr. The drummer for Priestess was amazing.
Oh well. It was fun. I can't remember everything every band played. if I could i'd post a set list for each, well, I hadn't even heard Priestess before the show, but anyways. I was just having fun.
Now I have four hours until school.
Goodnight.
Next week is my third Ween show. Hooray for April, already.

I kept looking over at this man next to some people who were next to me, because he looked so damn familiar. Maybe he was one of my grocery store customers or something if he isn't on here.

Hmmm, no, I don't think so. I didn't see them hanging out at the Pita House or at my home either.

I like Dead Meadow, but I'm not sure how they'd fare live.

I'm going on Tuesday night when they come to Indianapolis for the first time since like '94 or something. Can't wait. I hear they've started playing "The Wagon" on this leg of the tour which is cool.

I'm not sure who's opening but I'm hoping for Dead Meadow. I saw them open for SFA once and thought they were great live. Don't care much for their studio albums but love watching the guitar player.

here's what Ween was sounding like on the last tour, which isn't that different from the one before that. Still, always one of my favorite bands to see live.

Are you fucking serious? Awesome.

Dinosaur Jr. is probably the second loudest band I ever saw (after Ministry)

I saw them play last year in London. They did an acoustic set of just songs from Bug. Freaking awesome.

Just listening to J mascis & friends new album. Very good.

Here's a blurb...
Quote:
The latest CD by J. Mascis, the guitarist and singer of Dinosaur jr, is a collection of devotional songs dedicated to the living Indian Saint, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).

Amma has also started a vast range of humanitarian projects, including orphanages, charitable hospitals and free homes for the homeless. After the tsunami struck in December 2004, Amma pledged 23 million dollars in relief aid. Her organization is currently in the process of building 6200 homes destroyed in the disaster, and has been providing free food, medical care and shelter since the disaster struck. All the proceeds of Mascis' CD go towards this cause.

Amma is a humanitarian and spiritual leader who has dedicated her life to uplifting suffering humanity through the her embrace, which she offers to all regardless of caste, creed or religion. She often sits as long as 20 hours straight in order to console people in this way. In the past 30 years she has hugged more than 24 million people throughout the world.

For information about Amma visit www.Amma.org.

The CD finds Mascis both on electric and acoustic guitar, playing original devotional songs, including "Help Me, Amma," "Amma What Now?," "Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu," "Please Remember That I'm Here" and "Take Me Home."

"Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu" is a Sanskrit mantra meaning "May All the Beings in all the Worlds Be Happy." The final song, "Ayi Giri Nandini", is a metalized version of a Sanskrit hymn by Adi Shankaracharya. Written about 1300 years agao, the hymn sings the glories of the Divine Mother as she slaughters the demonic forces of Mahisha Asura, the Buffalo Demon. Mahisha Asura symbolizes the dark negativities of humanity: greed, anger, laziness, pride, etc

An acoustic set of Bug? I didn't hear they'd done that, that would be awesome.

I haven't picked up the J Mascis & Friends album because it sounds like it would be really weird. Like a bunch of chants or something. It's the only thing he's put out that I don't own.

I've seen them without earplugs before but last night killed my hearing in one ear. I may have to go to the doctor. It was a really good show though. They wouldn't be nearly as good if J's guitar was turned to the volume of a normal live band.

my ears are fine. my throat hurts for some reason, though, and i tried really hard not to sing all of the songs and i didn't scream at all.
i was polite and clapped.

I haven't picked this up either, but might after I read some reviews.

What do you think of Witch? I need to spend some more time with it, but my initial impression is that most of it is really good.

I haven't spent much time with it either but it sounds pretty good. I have to be in the mood for that stoner rock stuff though. It's sort of Dead Meadow-ish which is cool but not for everyone.
