Pick Slide - For the less-than-musical: that cool rawk scratching sound that you get when scraping your pick down the strings toward the headstock. You should also grimace when doing this. Has also been abused by the likes of REO Speedwagon (see "Keep on Loving You")

My favs:

"In the City" and just about every early Jam song.

Rancid also employs this every 14 seconds.

yeah, but you were implying it. I'm good at leading between the lines like that before I attribute things to other people.

The Tom Schultz (?) Boston guitar tone makes me want to shove pencils in my ears.

And then there's the singing.

I remember seeing some lite metal band (Whitesnake?) in the 80's on a video. The lead guitarist swept his sleeve across the strings during a particularly stupid part of the solo. It sounded plain retarded - kinda like a guy sweeping his sleeve across the strings. He had this look like, "Yeah, I'm cool. Watch this sleeve action."

Can't abide Boston. Sorry.

True the VH, though.

On vinyl, unfuckwithable.

The quality of that recording is astounding.
