"Radio Song" is an embarrasment to all involved. Except maybe the string section.

just the other day i was telling my coworker how tragic it is when good bands destroy their music by letting some rapper in on it.

that's the case with all of the above tunes, especially R.E.M. & Sonic Youth.

it's a fucking bad idea.

I see your point, but I do think it works in Kool Thing, because its brief and momentary with Chuck D slipping in some "Yeah!" and "Word Up" in contrast to Kim's question about saving the girls from male white corporate oppression. And the song is about LL Cool J, so I think it's appropriate here.

they need to reach a wider audience and it shows some diversity in their music. i'm not a rap fan (w/the exception of glc & beastie boys) but there are some decent collaborations out there.

I realise I said "favorite" but I was mostly posting the big ones off the top of my head. I don't like that Run-DMC track of that REM one.

The other three I love, though.

I can't think of any. Maybe Disorder with Slayer & Ice-T.

see that's my problem with it. having a rapper say "word up" in that tune is just pointless. the lyrical subject matter is enough. Chuck doesn't accent the tune IMO, he scars it. and i like Chuck and his voice.

You're right in that the Chuck's lyrics are superfluous in the song, but I think it's really a qualitative addition to have him throwing out these trivial phrases. "Let..everbody know!" just cracks me up. So it definitely doesn't scar it for me.

Possibly that Helmet & House Of Pain song but I think it's shelflife expired 15 minutes after it was released.

i've got this live version of Interpol's Song 7 where Paul Banks busts out a white-boy rap that lastst about 45 seconds towards the end of the song.

Isn't that what he's been up to during the off season? I thought I saw some blog with pics of him "b-boying" it up, etc. and spinning a hip-hop set.
