Drink anything that's not common here that you recommend?

coffee, guinness and wine - that is it. Oh, and tons and tons of Bulmers, which is Magners here. Not much of a beer drinker.

when i was in scotland, i tried to order a blackthorne cider, but i tried to say it like they do, which sounds more like "blackthurn," and the guy didn't understand me and put black currant syrup in some strongbow. it was tasty.

I'm sorry, but the parlance of our times dictates that you specify the pairing as my boo and I.

yeah it's easily the best. i'd say it goes:

1. strongbow
2. blackthorne
3 (tie). woodchuck
3 (tie). magners
4. hard core

not sure if i've had others

I haven't had Magners. Spire makes a pretty good one, but I think they're outta Washington state.

I haven't had cider since college. I recall liking it, though.

I've probably tried all of those mentioned in this thread..either through 'education' or 'its 4am, and all these a-holes have left is CIDER!!' and I just can't abide by it.

Whatever floats your boat ;)

They can't pour Guinness here in Chicago. It's embarrassing. Saturday night my friend got what looked like a glass of chocolate milk.

They've never seen the Shamrock trick either, nor do they subscribe to the philosophy of the buy-back. I miss Brooklyn.

A cider/lager/blackcurrent is called a Diesel, funnily enough.

Bartender gets you a free drink in return for good tip later, when you're more sloshed.

It's not typically my thing either, but there's one brand from the Okanagan Valley that can put naysayers in their place and on their asses pretty quickly. It used to be my Saturday afternoon summer starter drink about 10 years ago. I can't find the brand anywhere now, so the BC folks must be hanging onto it.

Fourth round is on the house. It's a beautiful thing...because you never go in and only have one. After you have your second, you might as well get number three, because you'll then get number four for free.
