I'm working with a friend in a band who's looking to get some new shirts printed up. Other than the tried and true BLACK, what sorta colors are you guys & gals into or even more likely to purchase? There has been a ton of requests from young ladies for a pink shirt, so that's already in the works.

Yes, I know it probably has a good bit to do with the design, but I'll take care of that part later. Skillz, yo. Oddly enough to me, he said they've tried several dark blue shirts, and they can't ever move them.

Thanks, gang.

When I buy tees from bands if they have:

royal blue
yellow/off yellow with any other ink color than black
maroon with white ink

I'm pretty much hooked.

I always like a green shirt. I know the green New Pornographers shirt sold out in Milwaukee (in L and XL)

Dark blue is bad. So is light blue. I don't like blue because I have tons of blue shirts. Also, when wearing blue jeans, I feel like too monochrome. I am a red, grey, mossy green fan myself. And ringers are cool. I don't dig on the 'girly' tees because they have a tendency to shrink upward and you end up with a belly shirt. Not so good.

Although most of my band shirts are black, I've had more than a handful of browns and I have light blue Guster and red and white Daniel Johnston shirts that I like quite a bit.

I prefer either earth tones or bright, vibrant colors.

I'd say a lot depends on the Image/lettering colors as contrast, but my 2 cents.

for guys:
burgundy
Green(hunter or/kelly green is in)

for girls:
lavender(light Purple)
hot pink

unisex:
light blue
light grey
brown
beige/tan

different:
purple
yellow
orange
red

then again, any color for anyone really

Surprised to hear about the navy blue 'cause I have a navy with orange "Whisketown" in cursive that suits perfectly for drinking occasions.

Green has some possibilities. Hell, I can even work with it, because I wear green fairly often. I tend to try to avoid shit I wear, because I'm a terrible dresser most days.

Red with white ink always makes me think of pizza place tees. I've found too that if you are doing a complex design or heck, even text with white ink on red, some people have a really hard time reading it.

Jesus, man. Once again, we are at total opposite poles here. I hate them goddamn ringer tees.

Not that I'm buying one of these.

No, no... I said the belly shirt was NOT GOOD. And they aren't supposed to be belly shirts, they start off as those girly 'baby' tees. And then they shrink... geez. I'm a bad dresser, but not that bad!!

If you're going to avoid the black, for girls I prefer lemon yellow, white (depending on the design), pink, mint green, silver (not the grey marle type thing).

I really hate that dark, mossy green, but that's probably because it makes me look ill when wearing it. Looks alright on some guys though. In general I don't like dark earthy colours - they just look a bit anonymous on me.

Navy depends a lot on the design. If its just writing, like the Whiskeytown one someone else mentioned, then that will probably look good. Anything more detailed generally looks bad.

Red is the same in a lot of ways - it's really easy for it to look shit.

My favorite t-shirts are poop brown and charcoal, respectively.

While this is true, I look horrible in normal t-shirts. So baby t's are the only sort I'll wear.

As for color, I'll mention the Pilots brown with blue print as one I liked a lot.

White gets dirty to easy, black is the obvious choice. I also like grey for lighter colors. Ringers are good sellers, especially if you use a light shirt and dark rings. I have a AYWKUBTOD shirt that is grey with dark blue print and rings on the neck/sleves. They were selling like hotcakes, both guys and gals liked them. A funny story associatated with this shirt. I was at a show a few weeks after purchasing wearing the forementioned shirt. Between bands a young lady approached me and told me my shirt was "tight". I took that as good, not ill fitting, but maybe I was wrong. Tight is good, right? This girl was probably 17-20 yrs and I'm not exactly fluent on this young hipster lingo.
