yes. but going to shows by yourself is not. going to bars just makes you look like you're looking for sex.

she went to nyc last night and she's too "partied out". lame.

The closest I've come to doing this was being pretty sure a friend was going to be there and knowing the bartender. Otherwise, I don't think I'd be able to do it.

oh, and it's the same as drinking at home, minus the access to porn, Headbangers Ball, fresh cheese, and expensive wine.

You can always claim to be meeting freinds who haven't arrived yet.

Doing the bar thing alone is more preferable than going with a bunch of people you can't relate to/get along with very well. It's a good idea when you need to get out of the house and think deep thoughts while slowly falling under an alcoholic haze. Also, you can make a complete fool of yourself guilt-free knowing that you'll probably never run into these people ever again.

Go, you'd be surprised how often people got out alone, its a good way to meet people (i.e. girls) outside of your circle, too.

I stayed home, nursed a beer for a bit and now I'm drinking Jack & Ginger and gonna watch The Curse Of Frankenstein.

Bring a book or magazine. It looks sort of silly, but at least you have something to keep you occupied. I got through "The Screwtape Letters" at a punk bar over the course of a few nights.

I went alone to a movie tonight and it was wonderful. My usual movie-going partner is great, too, but I do love a good date with myself.

the only time i do this is for a big soccer match here that none of the americans i know are interested in. but in that case the bar is packed and everybody is there for the same reason, so it's a much more comfortable environment

nope. unless you're meeting someone there. at least for me... but tonight i went to a "mega-club" in la by myself, but i was meeting someone there because i was at the kings hockey game before so i had to meet after the game.

I can't go anywhere myself now since the 'Hairdresser Incident'.
