I kind of liked the song...its a bit more Soungardern-esque than they are used to, but it rocked. And Eddie got into it.

Also, LaserCats was awesome.

Yea, it wasn't bad, but sounded like a pj song from ten years ago.

Did Eddie do it in full Bobcat Goldthwait mode? Cuz that's when he's awesome. Awful, but awesome.

I was pleased to see Eddie rockin' the long hair again. It sort of reinforces the fact that Pearl Jam no longer seems to feel the need to apologize for being Pearl Jam.

Also, I think they should've given Matt Cameron a mike a long time ago. Way better back up singer than Ament.

I didn't see it, was fast asleep. However, the word "but" surely needs to be eliminataed from mutty's post. If they're rocking it Soundgarden style, it can be nothing other than good. I've intentionally stayed away from all of the "leaks" of songs from the upcoming album. It's one I want to see, touch, smell, and hear all at the same time.

I thought that performance last night was great. If you've seen or heard any live shows in the past few years, you know that they haven't stopped rocking.

My aunt felt that Pearl Jam were selling out because the SNL musical segments are sponsored by Budweiser and PJ has made a big show in the past of being against anything of that sort.

I disagreed, saying that Bud sponsors SNL, not Pearl Jam specifically. And that they've been played on the radio for years and the radio is paid for by commercials too, so that's no different.

Thoughts?

Ow, my head hurts.

Musicians should worry about making the best music they can. If they're known for their politics/stances/morals or lack thereof, fine. But they ought to be known for their music first.

That's just my opinion.

"Worldwide Suicide" sounded a lot better in that live version than the radio leak I heard of it did. It makes me want to buy the new album. Pearl Jam was my first favorite band.

Also, Pearl Jam may officially be the most annoying band in the world to watch on mute, between Eddie's facial expressions and Mike (or is it Stone?) hopping around like some kind of Blink 182 wannabe.

I'm pretty sure he was hopping around before Blink 182 was around.

I don't think McCready's hopping around, so much as he's just trying to shake the shit out of his pants.

When L. Lohan introduced them 'get ready to rock and roll' like she knew all about them i was thinking she must have been a pre-schooler or kindergartener when they were big. Sort of like if Molly Ringwald was introducing 80s comeback Aerosmith. just seemed weird that Pearl Jam is now an elder statesmen rock band with a legendary or at least semi-legendary rep.

I was six when Ten came out and I'm well acquainted with them and even saw them live a few years back.

But yes, it does seem more fake when it's Lindsay Lohan making that claim.

Am I the only one who got a kick out of that "Disney Vault" bit on "Saturday TV Funhouse?" In two weeks, the entire episode of SNL will be dedicated to the best of TV Funhouse. I am praying they show the one with depressed Burl Ives Frosty Snowman Narrator suffering severe post-9/11 depression. That was the darkest/funniest thing I've seen in years, but I think they may have only aired it that one time.

np: The Doors - "Gloria"
