On their eleventh day of deliberations, the six-woman, six-man jury found Ryan, 72, guilty on 18 counts of racketeering, mail fraud, false statements and tax violations. Warner, 67, was convicted on 12 counts of racketeering, mail fraud, extortion, money laundering and evading cash-reporting requirements.

In a way, I'm a bit saddened by this, as Ryan did some good things as governor. But, as a crook who put his own political ambitions ahead of public safety, I hope the bastard gets what's coming to him.

He didn't pardon them, but gave them a stay of exectution... effectively changing their sentences to life in prison.

While I have not solidified my stance on the death penalty as yet, as to whether or not is should exist, I do think that there have been enough innocent people executed by the state to warrant those stays of execution. At least until the process can be overhauled and "fixed", if that is possible.

Talk about a fall from grace:
From Nobel Peace Prize nominee to convicted felon.

It don't get too much steeper than that.

The Nobel Prize was a farce, and the commutation was grandstanding because that lying theiving bastard knew his goose was cooked. Daley's next, then Blagevkljasdfoiweurwich.

Why the charges should have included Man I:

Quote:
The fiery accident occurred when a heavy piece of metal undercarriage fell from a truck and punctured the gas tank of the Willis van. The truck driver, Ricardo Guzman, had paid a bribe for his commercial driver's license in Illinois and could not understand warnings from other truckers, in English, that the piece was dangling dangerously from his rig.

Agreed.

EDIT: And motherfucker Tom Delay needs to be the next one to go to Federal pump-you-in-the-ass prison.

Prediction: He'll appeal and appeal and he'll die before any sentencing.
