I was offered a listen and declined. I guess I made the right choice?

I played the album maybe a half dozen times now. Overall, I enjoy it quite a lot, I'm not sure if it's as good as Grand or Pirate. I think he's getting a little complacent here, musically and lyrically. It's not totally predictable, but we do get his token heartfelt ballad song like Never Went to Church. So I don't know, I do like the album and I've no real complaints about it. It didn't floor me or make me wretch. I'll have to see how it plays out over the next while.

is it better than Grand? Pirate I liked quite a bit, but Grand, IMO, licked bag.

That's a tough call then. I really enjoyed both of those albums, myself. My initial reaction is that you will not like this album, as it's closer to the last one. That's just an guess though, others might disagree in terms of comparing this to the others.

Do you want a ysi to preview? I've already got it uploaded.

i like some of it, not all of it, just like the other two. i think it will take a streets fan to enjoy this, but not somebody who didn't like him before.

The produciton is on-par with the first two releases (that's groundbreaking for those keeping score at home), and Skinner still has a lot of great urban folklore. On first listen, though, this one seems to be absent of any substantial hooks. "Never Went to Church" is the closest the album gets, but nothing on here comes close to "Weak Become Heroes", "Blinded By the Lights", "Fit But You Know It."

All Streets albums are growers, so I expect to like this more upon each listen. May be my third favourite Streets record, but still a potential top 10 of '06.

you're right on with this. after several listens, i'm finding it more enjoyable and interesting [and it's an office favorite right now].

I think "Pranging Out" is my favourite song right now, period. But yeah, there's nothing as good as "Weak Becomes Heroes" here and it is a grower like the others. I remember being a little ambivalent about Grand when I first heard it and it turned into one of my favourites, so this will likely hook me in even more.

Same here. After one listen, I like a lot of the beats, but the songs haven't really connected yet. I think Pitchfork may have gotten this right with their review--good beats, mediocre lyrics, especially for a Streets album.

I like this a lot, especially "Prangin' Out" and "Memento Mori." I don't think there's a bad track on it. I probably prefer it to Grand, but I don't know if it beats Original Pirate Material yet.

I've tried to get a bunch of my friends to listen to this (who aren't familiar with the Streets or British hip-hop in general) and they all hate it so far. It's not Kayne or crunk so they've decided that its terrible.

I got this off of emusic this past week and have listened to it when I've been on my computer off and on. If has its little charms here and there, but nothing as to the hype I've heard around the Streets. Btw, this was my first exposure to the Streets, so that should be noted. I do however dig it for the most part. I enjoy the song about becoming famous, which is really fun.

This has been growing on me after actually giving it a few more spins and i think it's quite good.

I enjoy all three albums.
