Sam Goody in the area had a few stores going out of business so i stopped by a few now that they're down to 70%-80% off. Here's what i got despite the fact that there were only about 100 albums in each store (lots of Scott Stapp's new one and some group called Indigenous)

I wouldn't have purchased most of these if they weren't real cheap. Hopefully a few pan out.

maximo Park - a certain trigger (2 disc) $4
black mountain - s/t $4
D'Angelo - Voodoo $4
Suede - A new Morning (import) - $4
Longwave = There's A Fire - $4

Crowded House - Very Best Of $4
Zutons - Who Killed... $4
Jeff Buckley - Sketches for my sweetheart....$4.50
Ray Lamontagne - Trouble $4 (hopefully i'll like a song or two)
Caesars - Paper Tigers $4 (i liked the previous album so i'm sure this will be more of the same)

other stuff found that i already own

Gang of Four - Return the Gift (double disc version) (3 copies) $4
Magic Numbers - (2 copies) $4

It's amazing how much crap you'll buy when it's on sale. I did the same thing years ago at a Futureshop in Spokane and bought about 80 albums. I should check and see how many of those i still own.

Indigenous is a blooze group. You'd have been better off getting that than say, the Ray Lamontagne, which is seriously depressing and didn't have much of a shelf life. Or the Crowded House, which was good when it came out, but now is pretty tired.

All in MHO, of course.

Here's what allmusic said about the album (circle) that was available.

"This one topped the list of Billboard Top Ten blues albums for four months shortly after its release. It's hard to say that it belonged there, not because it isn't a fine record, but because it's more rock than blues. Circle was produced by Texas singer/songwriter Doyle Bramhall, who is perhaps best known for his work with Stevie Ray Vaughan. It's a solid release, but don't expect anything fancy. In fact, many of the songs on Circle tend to sound very similar — and it doesn't help that some segue into the next one seamlessly, which only serves to accentuate their sameness and add to the predictability. Mato Nanji is a flawless guitar player, but his prowess here is slightly dampened by the acoustic guitar that lies a layer beneath some of the songs, resulting in less punch. His voice, however, is magnificent: full and haunting, not unlike that of Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker."

I'm not sure i'd want to hear that but maybe....

Nice score.

I found this double LP at Goodwill in excellent condition for 50 cents:

...and this brand new CD for a dollar:

Good haul.

Recurring Dream is a better Crowded House collection, but that one is solid.

Great songwriters.

Voodoo is scary good, as is Sketches although that's not as strong (understandably) as Grace.

My "shuddup" comment was meant to spark an intelligent and friendly argument regarding Ray LaMontagne's 'Trouble' album.

Duh.

Oh, I'm sorry. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?
