OK...I'm getting all my friends gift cards to their favorite clothing stores, but in order for me to get something for everyone on my list, I will have to keep the gift card prices to a mimimum. Probably $50 Gift Cards per person. My dilemma is this...some of the gift cards I'm getting are from Kenneth Cole, Diesel, etc. I've looked on their sites, to get some idea of what one could get for $50 and it's very limited. Do you think it's cheesy if I gave them $50 gift cards when practically everything in the store is at least $60-$70? I feel like I'm giving them half a gift. Does that make sense?

I'd say your fine. I end up spending over the amount on most gift cards I receive...plus $50 from anyone is a pretty expensive gift in my eyes.

I'd be very thankful for a $50 gift card. But i never shop at those stores because it's realistically out of my price range. It would certainly make something i wanted at a store like that acheivable.

In fact, that's how I got my Diesel watch, which i love to death.

So maybe that'll help you out, somehow? Although I'm not sure how.

It's the thought anyway and if they wanted something from one of those stores it would be just the incentive to go get it.

Me too. That's why I feel awful. Some of my friends will probably get me a gift card of equal value to my favorite clothing store (Old Navy). With $50, I could probably buy 5 shirts from Old Navy, and I'm giving my friends half a shirt.

Well that's their own damn fault for having such gosh darned expensive taste in clothing!

holy crap you spend a lot per person on your gifts

the problem with gift cards is that the person knows exactly how much you spent on them. this knowledge either hurts you or hurts them. unless they spend the exact same amount on you.

I was thinking the same thing! We're so poor at the moment (and some of our friends are hurting financially as well) we ended up doing a white elephant gift exchange. That's how I got my Bush roll of toilet paper! ;)

But ultimately, it's the thought that counts.

I thought it was Freddie Mercury trying to get back in shape after hearing the Paul Rodgers rumors.
