I knew there was a reason I didn't trust this guy's taste ;)

I do like to argue.discuss stuff with him though.

If I drove away a dude whose #1 album is Funhouse, and gives 10s to S/K records, you people should be celebrating in the streets. I know I'm happy with it.

Yes, I'm sure he can find many places to get his ego fed. Glad he likes the S-K, though. Will have to check out.

Well he never really contributed much (to Obner, I know he did more on CMJ). It seemed like whenever he did post here, it was only in his own threads.

I can understand why he would be put off by this place, though. A lot of people were pretty hostile to him, and others, myself included, often questioned the insane volume of music he claims to digest.

I think his site can be a pretty good resource, but I find very little I that agree with him about newer music. I mean, not to take sides against the guy based on taste, but look at what his #2 choice for this year is... fucking Mars Volta. Let's just say I'm not getting my hopes up about that Sleater Kinney album.

let's not turn this thread into a bashing of Fast. the dude isn't the only one that feels that way.

I think he has a good website and is pretty knowledgable about music. I'm not buying the Mars Volta record, but its no sillier a claim than other record people think are the best of the year.

I think Bloc Party is the best thing I've heard in 2005, plenty of people here think that's a fucked up opinion too.

I agree, Drinky.... let the Mars Volta bashing extend towards everyone who likes that album, and not make that comment fnb-specific. Thanks...

...and there's nothing wrong with Funhouse though, with the prog-jammy direction S-K are supposedly taking with this new album, I'm sure funhousers and voltards alike will feel the same way FNB does...

that was the #1 album for 01-03 /2005, as voted by YOU (obners).

for me, bloc party is ok, has an outside shot at my end-of-year top 20. mars volta has better shot.

go decemberists!

I'm probably the only one, but I am NOT A FAN of anything The Stooges did. I find it all to be pretty meh, even after repeated listens, it'sjust not what its cracked up to me.

I liked FNB's posts. Funhouse is one of my all-time favorites and he likes Bad Brains a lot too.

I still check out his website even though I don't care for some of the stuff he likes.

This board would be a better place if he still posted.

I rarely ever post so my opinion doesn't really count though.

He loves music
He knew his stuff
He was opinionated
His site is terrific

Perfect qualities for a Obner member and I wish he still posted.

Having said that, he would be my exhibit A regarding my recent remark about someone so hungry to hear the next new thing that it's impossible for them to actually take everything all in and, you know...actually enjoy all the music they already have.

I admire his restraint. I don't get much out of this board anymore either but I seem to be tougher for Loogar to drive away.

np: Artful Dodger "Honor Among Thieves" - this is better than I remembered. Thanks Radcliffe.
